"Mama, I have to go, for me, I have to go to try to save this causa perdida." She gazed into her mothers eyes. Looking for a little sympathy.
"My nina, always think she is a lost cause. Mimi my strong independent WOMAN always doing what you want, what you think is right. Why can you stay here and finish High School." She put her hand on Mimi's shoulder, trying to hold on for another moment.
"Not now Mama, someday but not now, please don't love me just let me go." Mimi suggested
"I will love you with my entire heart child, always. Now go and show New York how real women act." Mimi laughed at her mother's comment, knowing how much she would miss her mother's sarcastic humor.
The pair hugged, and Mimi climbed on the bus. She turned around and said, "Te quiero, Mama." The mother smiled ever so slightly, Mimi swore that she saw her mother do something that she had never seen he mother do, cry.
The bus drove away, Mimi knew that she would miss the place where everyone spoke two languages and anyone knew how to make a great taco. Then she taught of the unhappiness, and how people looked at her when she walked down the hall ways. She had to get away, nothing could make her stay, still she wanted one last hug.
It had been her and her Mama ever since her Dad left. Her mother always made her persevere, and keep moving forward. No matter what happened her Mama was always there, now what she going to do. Her mother was the only reason that she was so spirited. Mimi loved her mother more than anything but she just had to get out, get out of the prison that she had made for herself.
She whispered "Te quiero, Mama, apesadumbrado era una causa perdida." She herself looking back, which betrayed everything she preached.
