A/N: Short piece set 1 year after Loss. Olivia takes a moment to remember Alex. Inspired by the song Kiss the Rain by Billie Meyer.

Disclaimer: Nope, not mine. Damn.

Olivia Benson stood in front of her bedroom window, full glass in hand and the lights of New York City spread beneath her, somewhat distorted through the rain streaked glass. She took a sip of her favorite wine and listened to the sound of the rain coming down. It was one year exactly since Alex left the city to enter the Witness Protection Program. One long year since she last saw the attorney who made her feel like no one else ever had. Sighing, Olivia turned from the window and headed toward her apartment door. Before grabbing her leather coat she took a second sip and placed the remaining wine on the counter. She'd come back to it later.

Olivia moved at a steady pace once on the street, allowing the rain to soak into her hair, her face, her clothes. The clean water mixed with the tears as they made their way down her cheeks. Eventually she made it to her intended destination, and she sat down ignoring the wet steel beneath her. She let out a small, frustrated laugh as she recalled that day some years ago when Alex and her had settled on this very bench to discuss a difficult case. Alex was still fairly new to the Unit, and this particular case had hit her hard and Olivia was there to pick up the pieces when the Ice Queen fell apart. As Olivia was offering up her advice on how to deal with it, an unseasonal downpour happened, sending the pair scurrying for cover and eventually ending up soaked and breathless in Alex's apartment. Seeing the usually perfectly primped blonde looking so wet and bedraggled had ignited something in Olivia and it was that afternoon that she fell in love.

Leaning back into the bench, Olivia turned her head to face the sky, where she saw a full moon poking it's way through the heavy cloud and she sighed, "God, I miss you, Alex," She announced to the empty space next to her. As if in response, the world around her shuddered and her ears were filled with the rumble of thunder and the detective couldn't help but laugh.

Halfway across the country, in a nice house with a grassed yard and a mailbox and a white picket fence, a blast of thunder woke a blonde woman from her slumber. She tried to shake it off and go back to sleep but something was calling out to her so she tossed the bedcovers aside and padded softly to the French doors that led out to her private courtyard. Opening one, she slipped out into the soft rain that was falling and rested her elbows on the dampened wood railing that surrounded her. "Oh, Olivia," Alex Cabot whispered, looking up at the perfect moon above her and allowing her face to become soaked, "I miss you, too."

So what did you think? A bit cheesy I know but I like it, I'm a big believer in *feelings*, you know, when someone far away is thinking of you and you just *know* they are? Also, if you've not heard the song, I suggest you track it down :)

P.S. The next installment of Another Chance will be up soon, just working some kinks out of it atm and have been incredibly busy with work and uni.
