A/N: This ficlet was written for the fic on demand LJ community. The request was for partner betrayal. There are hints of Giles/Buffy, but it more friendship than romance.
Giles pinched the bridge of his nose with a sigh. He knew that it shouldn't matter so much to him, but after all these years, he really thought they had established a solid connection, that she cared for him enough to show at least a little consideration for his feelings. After all, they were a team…they fought side by side together, facing death and saving the world more times than he cared to count. Yet when she did things like this, he felt like she barely knew him.
He double-checked the box in front of him, just to be sure. Perhaps he had been mistaken. No, even upon a second and third examination, the results were still the same.
Buffy had failed to save him a jelly doughnut yet again.
That's it, Giles thought to himself. I have no other choice. I'll just have to go on the doughnut run myself from now on. This sort of thing can't be allowed to continue.
