What the fuck? Why am I in a sewer?

Those were my first thoughts after I woke up. Then I started to realize that I was having trouble remembering things. The last thing I remembered was feeling really sick and exhausted and trying to fall asleep. Trying to get my bearings straight, I started to look around the sewer I was in. For some reason, it seemed familiar to me. After a second, I realized why it seemed familiar because the next thing I saw made my blood run cold.

Why? Because I was staring at theNine Tailed Demon Fox, Kuruma, and he was staring back.

After I realized this, my eyes widened. Why was I in Naruto Uzumaki's mindscape?

"Am I dreaming?" I mumbled to myself.

"No."

That was the only thing Kuruma said and I believed him because I could feel the vibrations from his voice down to my bones.

"A-ah, okay then…" I said while still staring into those massive red eyes.

"You don't seem to be afraid. Why?" Was the next thing he said, narrowing his eyes in the process.

"Well, I'm still really, really confused right now amongst other things." I didn't know if I wanted to share what I knew with the beast yet.

"How are you here?" He said, eyes still narrowed from before.

"I have no idea." I mean, how is this even possible?

"Do you know who I am?"

"Yeah, you're the Nine Tailed Fox…" I said very nervously. Who wouldn't be nervous in front of a literal demon?

"Do you know where we are?"

"If I'm remembering right, this is Naruto's mindscape right?" At least he seems to be staying civil during our little conversation.

"Look behind you, in the water."

Turning around slowly, I looked down and froze. Laying face up in the water was none other than Naruto Uzumaki, who seemed to be unconscious. How can you be unconscious in your own mind?

"I don't know who you are or why you're here and I don't trust you at all, but something needs to be done and you're the one who will do it."

What?

"What?" I asked with a bewildered look on my face.

"The brat has been like that for awhile now. I can only keep him alive for so long when he hasn't been able to eat or drink. For now, you will take over for him. I'll make his body wake up. When that happens, you should be the one in control since you are the only human conscious in this body right now. We will talk more later. For now, you need to find food and water."

Before I could even say anything, I started to lose consciousness and then everything went black.

When I was coming back around, the first thing that registered in my mind was how sore I was feeling. After testing most of my muscles to see if they would even respond to me, I slowly started to open my eyes. At first, the light was blinding but it gradually became bearable.

When I sat up, I realized I was in the middle of a forest. A forest full of trees I didn't recognize at all.

"Uh, hey, can you hear me?" Naruto and Kuruma could talk like this, right?

"Yes. Now what did I say about getting food and water?"

"About that, I am in Naruto's body right?"

Somehow, I could feel how Kuruma was getting annoyed with me. "I thought we've already been over this."

I couldn't help but get a little anxious after he said that. "Well, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing or where I am. Do you know of any way for me to be capable of some of the things Naruto could do?"

He was silent for a few seconds before he started to speak up. "You should be able to do anything he was able to, you are in his body. The only difference is who is in control."

"Wait, you're saying that I should be able to do anything he could do? How? I don't feel any different than I normally do." Even though I'm still having trouble remembering things, I feel like I know a lot about Naruto.

"Tch, the hell if I know brat. You aren't the only one who hasn't been in a situation like this before. You know him somehow so you should at least know some of the stuff he can do. Try thinking about whatever it is that you want to do."

"Hmm, okay thanks. I'll try that." I wonder if everything I remember about him is true. If it is, I don't want to take my chances at pissing off Kuruma by trying to use his chakra. Sage mode probably wouldn't be the smartest idea either, though I guess I could try to feel the nature chakra around here.

With that in mind, it was like my body started to move on its own, like really strong muscle memory or something. After a moment, I started to feel something I have never felt before. It was like I was aware of everything happening around me. I could feel the plants, animals and something so much more. The best way I can describe it is like I could feel the planet itself. After I started to get used to it, the sense started to grow and grow. I didn't feel like it would ever stop, that's how long the sense kept on growing. Eventually, I started to find people. Now when I say people, I mean a lot of people. There were enough to easily make up a town or a village.

Since I will probably end up heading towards this town anyways, I'm just going to go ahead and make my way there incase something is really wrong with Naruto's body. I should probably just walk there too, since nobody knows just how weak I am right now.

After walking for what felt like forever, I finally made it to the town. It took so long I feel like I was running on fumes. Back when I was feeling the nature chakra, I was able to feel something from each human. Some people had more of whatever this thing was, some had less. My point is, I felt an area in the town that had a large group of people who had more of whatever this thing was. Figuring that since they were in a group, they should be able to help me or at least take me somewhere that can help me.

Slow but surely, I made it to where I felt those people. It was a fairly big building with a decent amount of land surrounding it. When I got closer to the door, I could hear a lot of noise, like a lot of people were fighting. Taking just a second to second guess myself, I decided to open the door with the last of my strength. I was conscious just long enough for everyone to stop fighting. Just after that, the last of my strength left me as I fell on my knees and then face as I passed out.

Either Kuruma decided to let me rest or he couldn't contact me because the next time I woke up, I was in a bed. It seemed like it was around noon when I got to this place, and it looked just a little before dawn outside. I honestly have no idea how long I was out for.

It took a considerable amount of my strength and concentration to get out of the bed. Still being incredibly weak, I was slow with everything I did. It took a solid minute to even get to the door and I wasn't even that far from it. From there, I opened it and started to lean on the wall as I started going down the stairs.

If there were any conversations before, there definitely weren't any after the first few people sitting down in the large bar like building saw me on the stairs. After a few seconds I think I heard someone gasp. Eventually a girl that was probably a few years younger than me came running up the stairs to meet me. She was wearing a modest maroon red dress with two independent pink sleeves on each of her arms from the middle of her bicep to just past her elbow. She had short silver hair that went halfway down her neck with a pair of blue eyes.

"How are you out of bed right now, you just came in and passed out at our front door a few hours ago! What's wrong?"

When I went to talk, I couldn't say anything. Only a hoarse crackly sound came out. With a grimace I tried again, "Wa… ter…". I was still grimacing, but at least I was able to say that.

"Water? You want water? I can bring you some but I really think you should be resting right now."

Figuring that that was probably the best course of action, I inclined my head signifying that I agreed with her before turning around and heading back up the stairs.

"Um, would you like some help getting back to bed?" the girl asked just as I turned around just a bit hesitantly. This time I shook my head in the negative. If managed to make it this far, I should be able to get back just fine. I guess I must have been really exhausted and distracted because I managed to trip going back up the stairs. With no one by be, I was forced to fall forwards and catch myself before slamming my face on the ground.

After the girl saw that, she rushed up to help me get back on my feet. "I'm definitely going back with you now. After you're back in bed I'll get you some water, okay?"

Resigned to my fate, I couldn't suppress the small sigh that escaped my lips.

A minute later I was back in the same bed I woke up in, wondering what was going to happen after I got what I needed to, you know, survive.

Eventually, the silver haired girl from the stairs came in with a glass and pitcher of water. After she poured water into the cup, she offered it to me with a kind smile and set the pitcher down on the night stand to the left of my bed. After downing the glass of water in a few large gulps, she started talking to me again with that kind smile still on her face. "Is it any easier for you to talk now?"

"Ah, yeah, it is. Thank you, err…" after I realized that I didn't know the girls name, I looked at her expectantly.

Thankfully she picked up on the unspoken question. "Lisanna, my name is Lisanna."

"Okay, thank you for the water Lisanna," I said while giving her one of the best, honest smiles I could muster at the moment.

"Now now, I'm sure anyone would have been willing to help you. By the way, do know why you passed out as soon as you entered our guild hall?"

"About that, I'm pretty sure I'm literally starving right now with how much my stomach is hurting," I said with a sheepish grin while scratching the back of my head.

Her eyes widened when she realized I wasn't joking. "Oh! I'll go down stairs and get you something to eat right away then."

She left the room without looking back at me and closed the door once she left. I couldn't help but sigh again. Once I heard that name, I started to remember a few things, somewhat similarly to how I was able to remember a few things about Naruto. Why would I be remembering things about Lisanna? How, even? I'm almost completely sure that I've never met her before in my life.

Not much later, she came back in with a tray of steaming hot food. My mouth would have been salivating at the sight if I wasn't incredibly dehydrated at the moment. There was a decent sized bowl that had what looked like some kind of meat stew with a large piece of bread and some kind of fruit off to the side of the bowl with the meat stew.

"Are… you sure it's okay for me to have this?" I look at her hesitantly. I know I needed it but I don't know if it's okay for her to give me this much food.

All she did was give me another kind smile and say, "You don't need to worry, this one is on the house. You can stay here as long as you need to."

"Alright. Thanks you for the food then." With that, I started to devour what was in front of me. It may have taken me seven minutes to finish everything. With a contented sigh, I laid back down on the bed and closed my eyes.

"You're probably exhausted but can I ask you a few questions?"

This time it was my turn to give her a smile, "Sure, it's the least I could do to repay you for everything you've done for me."

"Like I said before, you don't need to worry about any of that. Let's get started then, can you tell me what your name is?"

"Ah, it's… Naruto. Naruto Uzumaki." Since I'm in his body, I should probably stick with his name.

"It's nice to meet you Naruto. Do you know what happened to cause to to stumble into our guild hall starving to death," she said with a frown on her face.

"I… I can't remember," I said with a frown on my face as well. To be fair, I wasn't in this body when whatever caused Naruto to be like this happened.

"Hmm, okay. Do you know where you are then?"

With a frown on my face still, "Besides being in a large town, no."

"Really? Well, you're in the Fairy Tail guild hall in Magnolia town. Do you know what you're going to do once you're feeling better?"

What am I going to do? I have no idea where I am or what's going on. The only thing I can think of is trying to get Naruto to wake up. "I… don't really know what I'm going to do now. Haven't really had the chance to think about it."

"Okay, I think that's enough questions for now. I'll let you get some rest. I'll see you when you wake up, okay?"

A smile made its way back on my face. "Yeah, okay. Thanks for everything again, Lisanna."

This time she rolled her eyes at me. "How many times do I have to tell you that you don't have to thank us?"

I chuckled at that. "Have a nice day, Lisanna."

That got her to smile again at least. Once she left, I was the only one in the room. Without anyone else with me, I started to realize just how exhausted I was. It didn't take too long for me to succumb to unconsciousness.
