Shakugan no Shana – Another New Flame Haze
It was just right after the Mid-Autumn Festival. The cold wind blew her black wavy hair as she was walking through the streets. She looked just like everybody else walking past. She made her way through the streets casually, hands in her pockets, earphones in her ears. It was when she passed a dim alley and something caught her eye. She stopped and slowly made her way into the dark alley, eyes like a hunter's.
She was expecting some demon in the closet or a monster under a bed by the time she reached the end of the alley, but when she saw what was before her, she felt foolish for overestimating such a thing. It was a little girl, about six years old. "Please don't hurt me…" the little girl whimpered. Her eyes were filled with tears, her face was so innocent. "Of course I won't hurt you." She replied, but her eyes were suspiciously glancing around, as if expecting an ambush to target her from behind. "What's your name?" She asked the little girl icily. "Ruby… I'm Ruby." The little girl stammered. Ruby slowly stood up from the corner she was huddling in. As the girl suspicious watched her, Ruby slowly made her way past.
Just as Ruby thought she had gotten away without causing any commotion, the girl said
"You have a really small existence, someone else must be with you."
Ruby sprinted through the alleyway towards the street, attempting to get away. She screamed, but no one heard her. Ruby turned around and noticed her surroundings. A Fuzetsu was summoned before she had even noticed.
The girl slowly made her way towards the quivering Ruby, holding a giant Shuriken behind her, like she's trying to hide a present behind her.
Ruby hurled a dark flame at the girl walking towards her. The girl simply lifted a finger and the dark flame disintegrated. Ruby was helpless. "Who are you..?" Ruby asked in a soft voice.
"I am the Auditor of Psychokinetic." The girl replied briefly, "Mei Yin"
"You're one of them! A Flame Haze! You tool of hunting!" Ruby screamed and backed away from Mei Yin, too terrified to even try and defend herself. The sight was pitiable. The Flame Haze hesitated as she watched the little girl cry in front of her. As she looked up with her tear-filled eyes, "Sorry" was the last word the little girl heard from the Flame Haze. With one swift motion, the little girl was beheaded, and her little flame of existence disappeared.
The Flame Haze silently stood there.
"Auditor of Psychokinetic has finally set foot into Misaki city. What an honour." A voice from the end of the alley spoke. Mei Yin turned around, surprised from the broken silence. A women dressed in a long cardigan emerged from the dark. "Oh, my poor little Ruby" she mocked.
The women calmly strode towards the Flame Haze, showing no sign of fear. The Flame Haze hurled over a white flame without even having to think. The women dodged briefly but the Flame Haze shot over to her a millisecond later and whirled her giant shuriken over but the women sidestepped. After a few attempts or hurling flames at each other, Mei Yin threw a few fireballs at the women and then rapidly darted a slim pocket knife within a fireball already on its way towards the target. The women managed to stop the flames but she wasn't aware there was a hidden knife. It pierced right into the side of the women's throat. That was the end of her.
My first day in Misaki city and already I encountered 2 Rinnes. This city is seriously messed up… The Flame Haze thought as she closed the Fuzetsu.
The world turned back to normal, as the sound of people chattering and footsteps filled the busy city streets. The Flame Haze made her way out of the alleyway, plugged the earphones in her ears and made her way deeper into the city….
