It was a normal night in the Corcoran-Schuester household. Shelby and Will were snuggled on the couch as they watched a movie. It was the first quiet night the two had together since Shelby scored a role on Broadway, and they moved to New York.
"Shelbs, what did you dream about when you were younger?" Will asked.
"If I tell you, you're going to think I'm stupid." Shelby said.
"You're really cute when you're stupid.."
"Okay, fine. Well, I was 20 when Sleepless In Seattle came out. And, um. You've seen those pictures." Shelby said, causing Will to chuckle.
"Anyway, I dreamt about having a 'top of the Empire State building' moment. I just think that the suspense of wondering 'Will they meet?' is crazy romantic." Shelby said.
"Shelby Corcoran. That is one of the most romantic things I have ever heard. Like ever." Will said, pulling his girlfriend closer.
"So it's not stupid?" Shelby asked.
"Not one bit."
It was a cold New York Valentine's Day. Love, however, was not cold for Shelby and Will. After a dinner that night, Will had something planned that would change his life forever.
"Here's to us. And hoping that we make it to another one of these money spending holidays." Shelby said, raising her glass.
"I've got something for you afterwards, Shelby." Will said.
"I can't wait."
About halfway through the dinner, Will excused himself to the bathroom. Well, that was his ccover, anyway. He texted Shelby to catch the car that was waiting for her later, and that he would catch up to them. Shelby had no idea where the car was taking her.
The car pulled up to the Empire State building. The driver told Shelby to go to the top.
As the elevator stopped at the top, Shelby looked around. Secluded. That was, until, Will, with roses, came from the other side.
"Shelby, all I wanted was for you to have that Sleepless moment. And, tonight, it just feels like the right time. I love you, Shelbs. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So, Shelby Kim Corcoran, will you marry me?" Will said, getting down on one knee.
Inside the Tiffany blue box was a two carat, princess cut, diamond. Shelby was speechless, until tears started to flow.
"YES. Three thousand times yes!"
And so they lived, Sleepless or well rested, forever.
