Just a little fluff. This is my first post here so please let me know what you think. I'd also love any ideas! I, sadly, own nothing.

She held his beating heart in her hands. She couldn't believe how crazy that was. She could see the dark spots from the mistakes of her pirate's past, but she could also see how much good there was in him.

"Just be gen –," he started to reassure her, but before he could speak, Emma had plunged his heart back into his chest with much more force than he imagined was necessary. Then he felt it; he was alive again. He had been living as a puppet for far too long. He had kissed Emma without his heart, but it was nothing compared to what he felt for her with his heart. He realized all at once that he needed to feel that again. Not a want or a simple desire, but a need.

"Sorry!" she began, "I just thought if I did it quickly it'd be like ripping off a b –." Before she realized what was happening, his lips were crashing into hers. She knew something had been off when he kissed her goodbye before the curse and again at Granny's, but she hadn't realized just how wrong until now.

She finally put her finger on what was wrong before. Killian had seemed to be kissing her out of obligation, not the deep desire that she knew he had. His last kisses hadn't sent her stomach into somersaults like they should have, but this one was making up for it. She felt that she could stay in this moment, this kiss, forever. She was surprised when he broke the kiss, she wanted more.

"I told you, Swan, I'm a survivor."

Emma relished his words. For the first time in a long time she felt truly content. She knew that she could worry about him, but she'd also been reassured that he would always find his way back to her. She finally realized that she didn't need to worry about him, of coarse, that didn't mean she'd stop.

"I'm so sorry I didn't figure out what was wrong sooner," Emma said. The guilt was beginning to well up in her as she had the thought that she could have ended his pain much sooner if only she'd been more observant. But obviously, he wasn't having it.

"Love, it's not at all your fault. If there's anyone to blame, it's the bloody Crocodile. I made mistakes too; I shouldn't have tried to blackmail him. I should've known that would end badly."

Emma wasn't having him blame himself either.

"Let's just stick with it being Gold's fault," she said. She grabbed his jacket and pulled him to her, giving him a quick, but encouraging kiss.

"I've missed you, Swan," Killian began. "I know I was often with you, but I wasn't really there."

"I didn't realize until now how much of you was missing," Emma said in a regretful tone. "I really am sorry. I should have known what was happening."

"Emma," he said as her heart jumped. She loved it when he used her name rather than "Love" or "Swan." There was something about the way he said it that made her melt. "You truly have nothing to apologize for. You had more than enough troubles to deal with elsewhere."

"I know," she replied, "but you are more important to me than that and I didn't do a great job of showing it."

"I know how you can make it up to me," he said with an arched brow, a mischievous, but playful look in his eyes. She laughed and lightly slapped his arm and he knew he'd accomplished his goal.

Maybe she'd give him his way just this once. Besides, it wasn't like she didn't enjoy it herself. She leaned into him, happiness sparkling in her eyes as she stretched up on her toes to give him one more long, slow kiss. She pulled away, a grin on her face, and turned and walked away.

"Goodnight, Killian," she called over her shoulder.

"Goodnight, Swan."

Well, what did you think?
