Disclaimer: I don't own.

A/N: It's based on the Leroux version (Erik has full face deformities), but he doesn't die, cause if he did, then we'd be in a little bit of sticky situation, wouldn't we? I wonder if they Quija boards back then...anyway, the Persian does exist, but Madame Giry feautures in it more, and she's a ballet instrectress, not a box keeper (it wouldn't work otherwise) . I don't have spell check at the moment and I'm not too skilled in the art of spelling. This'll mostly be in third person. If it does change I promise I won't do it randomly. Saint-Étienne is a real city, but I don't know if it has an Opera, let alone one called L'opéra de l'Ange.

Chapter One:

Madame Giry walked the cobbled streets slowly. She turned down the Alley that Erik had agreed to meet her in. The night was silent, and Madame Giry could see no shadows. But she knew that thi sdidn't mean that he was not there. She knew how he could blend into the shadows undetected. For a while she waited, to see if he knew she was there, but after a moment, she decided that he hadn't heard her come.

"Erik," at first she whispered his name. A whisper was enough. "I wasn't aure you would come."

Erik was silent in response, but Madame Giry could feel his yellow eyes burn into hers. After Erik's silent response, Madame Giry found herself voiceless.

"Meg and I leaving for Saint-Étienne in a few days time," Madame Giry started, but was cut of almost instantly.

"Why?" Erik questioned.

"After the incident involving Christine and the Victome," Erik made a choked noise at the mention at the couple's names, but Madame Giry carried on, "I thought it best to move away, for a while. And I thought you should join us," Madame Giry slipped the suggestion in quickly. She had thought about for a long time. There were some problems with her invitation, firstly, was his intial reaction - would he say 'no' his only thought connecting to that being the chance - the very small one - that Christine might return without the Victome, for Erik, secondly what might happen at this new Opera house, would he cause as much trouble for the managers as he did at the first?

"Why would you want Erik to come with you?" Erik asked, not looking at Madame Giry. She didn't have answer for him. In fact she didn't know why she felt that she should ask Erik to come with them. Wouldn't he cause more dilemma than he already had?

"Because," Madame Giry started, not sure what she would finsih her sentence with, "because, I think it would be best for you if you left Paris for a while. They might still be looking for you. You did kill the Victome's brother, didn't you?" Erik didn't answer the question.

"What is the opera house called?" he said instead.

"L'opéra de l'Ange." Madame Giry answered, suprised that he had changed the subject so quickly.

"L'opéra de l'Ange?" Erik repeted. Even though his masked face was covered by the darkness still, Madame Giry knew he would be smiling. She wondered why - and then it had hit her - Christine had thought he was the Angel of Music, hadn't she? Did he think that this could be a link to Christine?
"Will you come with us?" Madame Giry suprised herself by asking the question a second time. She had figured out why she wanted hin to come - not because she was worried that the gendarme would be looking for him for the events at the Opera house, but because even though she knew what he had done, she knew if he was left on his own, he would die.
"Yes." Erik answered finally.
