This is my first fan fiction. Go easy on me i dont have a word processor yet so sorry for any bad grammer.

A Lonely Night

As she swam through the water, Ally was pondering many things. Most of which had to do with what her father had said...

"Ally you're almost eighteen and you must find someone to be happy with. If you do not choose yourself, I will choose for you."

The last five words were the ones that haunted her the most. Why did she have to marry at eighteen? Couldn't she simply live by her self? Oh well, at least she had the option to choose her self available. As she swam she saw a blue hedgehog just vaugly. Ally was a mermaid (or merhog as she was a hedgehog). If you've seen The little mermaid you'll know what she looks like with some meager changes. Her bottom half had blue scales. However she has a scar on her right cheek from an assasination attempt. One of her best friends died that day. Her name was Aqua. She jumped infront of a sword strike when it almost hit her. The blade pierced her and along the way scratched Ally's cheek. The assasinator was caught only moments later and executed one week later. The memory still haunted her, even today. As she swam up to meet the blue hedgehog, she noted that his cheeks were tear stained. She read his mind to see what he was thinking. Thats one of her many powers. She can read peoples minds.

'Why did she leave me? Why couldn't it have been me that died?'

She looked at the hedgehog in shock and awe. She couldn't take it any more. She went up to the blue hedgehog, against the will of her people. "Why are you crying like that?" She asked, playing dumb, all the while shapeshifting to human form so she could walk. Thats another one of her powers. she can shapeshift between human and mermaid form, but nothing else. The blue hedgehog turned around to see a beautiful red hedgehog with long, pink quills that went down to the center of her back. "My girlfriend, Amy Rose, died shoving me out of the way of a robot's foot stomp and it crushed her instead." He started sobbing very hard. She walked up to him and held him, trying to calm him down. "Why her? Why? WHY?"

"Calm down everything's going to be alright."

"NO IT'S NOT!" He said with absolute anger in his voice. He broke down and started bawling like a baby. Ally looked at the blue hedgehog with absolute awe on her face. Finally after about a minute he started to calm down again. She tried reading her mind but she only got one image:

He looked up in absolute terror as the foot started to come down. He was pushed out of the way when he saw a pink hedgehog in a red dress push him out of the way. The foot came down and he heard the death shreak of a familiar voice. He lifted his hand up after he hit the floor and said "AMY!"

"I-I'm sorry" The blue hedgehog said after a while.

"Your Sonic the hedgehog aren't you?" Ally asked, curious. She had heard of the blue speed demon but she had never actually gotten any details about him.

"Yeah... I'm him. Sometimes I wonder if being a hero is good at all... one day I'm having a good time, next day my girlfriend is squashed to death."

She didn't know what to say about that. And she had a vision. She caught sight of her seeing the blue hedgehog fighting something that resembled a robot. "I have to go. I'm sorry about Amy." and with that she walked off leaving the hedgehog in his sorrow and confusion.

And Thats my first fanfiction. R&R please. I may turn this into a story if enough people ask ;). Until then it remains a one shot.
