The challenge this week is to include an animal in the drabble. Here I give you a wolf.

The wolf slinks silently toward the fallen hunter, the snow muffling her footfalls as she snuffles at the quickly-cooling trail of spilled crimson that soils the virgin whiteness.

The blood of his wounds heightens her hunger and she whines eagerly, her mouth watering at the smell of fresh meat.

She paws nervously at the still form and he stirs, the movement reawakening his pain.

He whimpers pitifully, his dilated green eyes finding her feral amber gaze and she sees his true being.

She folds to the snow beside him, warming him with her heat as his eyes slip closed.
