Brighter Than The Sun
Chapter 1: Revelation
Ariana's POV
"Well he does!" I protested, playfully punching Sam on the shoulder as he laughed at me for commenting on our science teacher's obvious likeness to a vampire bat.
"That's just ridiculous," he argued between gasps for caused by his obnoxious guffawing brought on by my observation.
"Oh, c'mon! Don't tell me you haven't caught him staring at a student like all he really wants to do is knock 'em unconscious and drain 'em dry!" I responded ardently, turning my back to him and pouting like a small child mid-tantrum, all the while trying to hold back the grin threatening to burst forth.
Sam attempted to stifle his snickering but succeeded only partially, ending up starting to hiccup instead, at which point it was my turn to laugh at him. He tried to come up with some witty retort but just as he opened his mouth to speak, he hiccupped violently, causing him to fall off of the couch we had been perched on, which of course, only made me laugh harder.
It seemed that karma would be the one getting the last laugh though, because as my body was shaking with laughter, I lost my balance and also ended up on the floor, curled up in a ball, trying to stop laughing long enough to right myself.
However, before I was able to succeed in doing so, Sam, who had recovered from his tumble off the couch and managed to rid himself of the hiccups, thought it would be fun amusing to tackle me down and pin me to the ground so as to make futile my attempts to become vertical once more.
Sam quickly clasped my wrists in his hands and straddled my waist, resting his knees on the floor on either side of me. Being the ninja he was, he managed to accomplish all of this in about seven seconds, causing his breathing to speed up quite a bit.
He looked up at me and adjusted his position so that his face was directly over my own. His mesmerizing hazel eyes were shot through with gold and they sparkled with laughter, peeking out at me from behind long brown eyelashes, effectively ending my fit of laughter as my breath caught in my throat. I stared up at him, enthralled, unable to break away from his gaze.
Sam's POV
Ari's deep blue eyes flecked light teal specks, like the ocean captured mid-wave in perfect little circles, stared deeply into my own for what seemed like ages, neither of us wanting to break the connection. Our breaths came faster, our hearts beat as one, pounding furiously at a million miles an hour, insisting that they can go even faster.
She simply stared up at me, and as she gazed into my eyes, I experienced what will likely become the most important revelation of my life: I was utterly, madly, deeply, & irreversibly in love with my best friend.
