Summary: Fate had something different in mind after the second summer of love. Renton was somehow the only one left behind on earth while the others were all send back to their own home. It had been four years and the gecko-go had been searching everywhere to find him. They couldn't be happier when they found him. Who's that unknown enemy? And why are they after Renton? How will life go on the gecko-go now that Renton is back?

The second summer of love ended a little bit different then in the real anime. Everyone got send back to their own world except for Renton. No one knew why only Renton was kept on earth. They would've expected either: Renton and Eureka to stay at earth or for both of them to come back. They knew or rather thought that they knew what would happen. They thought that there was no turning back for the both of them, that they'd never see them again. Everyone thought that the two didn't have a choice and that fate would decide what would happen. They just never expected this to happen. How could they know that this would happen. Why was Renton left behind?! Why was he left alone?! They missed him so much, they still do. They all felt guilty somehow, even though they knew that it wasn't their fault. The plan at first was for the gekkostate to break up but.. they decided against it. First of all, they couldn't do it. They're a big family now, no one can break them apart anymore. They'd stay forever together. The second reason was because of Renton. They swore that they'd find him no matter how long it would take. And when he was back, cause they were 100% sure they'd reunite again, they would continue traveling the world with everyone. That was just a unspoken promise. They would find him, no matter how long it took.
It was 4 years ago that Renton disappeared and all of the gekkostate members including Eureka and the kids had been searching for him all this time. The kids had grown a lot these four years. Eureka and the other members hadn't changed much except for the fact that they looked a little bit older now. And don't forget about the new member called Ida, Holland and Talho's four year old daughter.
Holland couldn't help but blame himself for Renton's disappearance, it just felt as if it was all his fault. He really wanted Renton back. He saw him as his own son after all. At least, that's how it felt. Luckily Talho was always there to hit him on the head when Holland had a 'it's all my fault' moment. Holland would look a bit startled at first but would then smile, say sorry and say he'd find him for sure. Even if it took years and years to do it.

Holland sighed, 10 o'clock in the morning and nothing to do. Just endless flying. And a lot of sand. Deserts are no fun. The only thing deserts have are a few mountains and a lot of sand. If you can call those things mountains that is.
Just when Holland and the others were sighing because there was nothing to do, the door opened revealing three shocked and happy looking kids. They seemed to be out of breath. "What's wrong?" Holland asked. Everyone was looking at the three kids not really getting why they stormed in like that. "T-the compact drive!" Maurice said while holding his hand up showing Renton's compact drive. It was bright blue and had Renton's name written in it. A lot of gasps could be heard. And that was because it had been four years since the compact drive showed anything at all. It was empty most of the time. Sometimes it showed Eureka's name but not that often. They thought the compact drive didn't work anymore since the nirvash was destroyed. Although they didn't get why it showed Eureka's name sometimes if that was indeed the reason. Now they did get it though. Well they knew what it meant. It meant that Renton had returned. He wasn't stuck on earth anymore. He was back again. It was only a matter of finding him. And since the compact drive would give them hints, like shining brighter if they were close, it just meant that they would be reunited with Renton really soon. They couldn't wait!
Cheers, laughter and happiness could be heard and seen in the room. Everyone was happy. Finally, finally they could see Renton again.
Maurice gave the compact drive to Holland who gave the kids a thankful smile in return. The kids beamed at him. They could finally see Renton again. They couldn't wait.

It was only five minutes later that someone yelled: "We're under attack! Bombs are coming at 2 o'clock!" "What! Whose attacking us?!" Yelled Holland forgetting about the compact drive for a second. "It's an unknown enemy." Someone yelled. Holland cursed and said: "Well there is only one thing we can do. Dodge and return the attack." "Roger" Everyone said.
The gecko-go dodged to the left and fired at the unknown enemy. "Did we hit them?!" Hap said. "No, we missed.." Ken-Goh said while looking wide eyed at the unknown enemy "and I think we have a bit of a problem here.." "What the heck is that?!" Moondoggie yelled also looking wide eyed outside. "Moondoggie don't panic!" Talho said also looking outside just like everyone else. "EVERYONE CALM DOWN!" Holland yelled this time. "There got to be a way out of this." "Then what do we do?!" Hap yelled this time "There is a freaking blast of light coming towards us!"
"Mama, I'm scared.." Maeter said with a trembling voice. "Are we going to die..? Is the ship going to explode..?" Maurice said feeling frightened himself. "No, no! I don't want to die! I don't want to!" Linck said and started to cry. "..Don't cry.." Maeter said tearing up and started to cry as well. Maurice could only look outside wishing for Renton to be here. It was so scary. Were they going to die?! Just like that?! He didn't want that. No, no, no, he didn't want to d- His thoughts were interrupted by their mama, Eureka. "Shh, it's alright. It's going to be just fine." Eureka said bringing the frightened children closer while looking outside, she felt quite scared herself. "Renton.." She thought while looking at the light beam which was coming closer and closer by the second.
Holland cursed again as the light beam was getting closer and there was nothing left they could do. What the heck were they supposed to do?! What about his plans?! He would save Renton wouldn't he?! He would protect Renton and Eureka right?! He would protect Renton, Eureka, Talho, Ida, Maurice, Maeter, Linck, everyone, right?! How could this be the end?! He didn't want to let it end like this! Not like this! He-he still had to-He still had to find Renton dammit!
Just when he thought that Matthieu yelled: "What the hell is that?! No wait, rather 'who'?!" Holland and the others looked outside and let out some disbelieving sounds. They thought that the blast of light would have hit them already but it was stopped somehow. Well it wasn't stopped yet. Someone on a refboard was in front of the blast of light and.. was stopping it somehow.. He, or she they didn't know, was wearing a big coat hiding his/her features. The coat was black with blue stripes on it. He/she had a hood covering his/her head. The blast faded after a few seconds and everyone on the gecko-go could only stare at the person standing on the refboard. Who was that?!
"Long time no see, I came just in time now didn't I." The stranger said. His voice, cause you could hear it was a he, sounded strangely familiar. But still.. different somehow.. They couldn't tell, nor could they understand. "Who are you?! And why did you help us?!" Said Holland not so sure if he could trust this guy. "Who I am?" The stranger answered "Well I'm Renton of course." Silence. "Renton?!" Holland said with wide eyes. "What, how, when?!" Holland said but Renton interrupted him: "No, worries I'll explain. Sorry I was gone for so long. I was stuck on earth. I haven't been able to get out until now. These past four years have been spent in finding ways to get back to you guys." Renton was silent for a few seconds before he said: "..I-I really missed you guys..!" They to were quiet for a few seconds before Talho said in a mocking but friendly tone: "Don't tell me you're still a cry baby Renton." "..Eh.. I'M NOT!" Everyone laughed and Talho and Holland said while smiling: "Welcome back, Renton." There could be heard a small laughing sound which they assumed was because Renton to was smiling. "Open the hangar!" Holland said. "Roger that!" Could be heard and the hangar opened.
Everyone got up from their seats and ran to the hangar as fast as they could. They couldn't wait to see him, they missed him so much. While they ran to the hangar, the compact drive was glowing bright blue with Renton's name written in it. It was way brighter than before.
Just as they walked in Renton came flying in. He landed and got of his board. He took of his hood and shook his head a bit, making his hair messier in the progress. Everyone just stared at him. He had grown up quite a bit. He and his hair were both longer. He was probably just a bit smaller than Holland. "Yeah he was still small" They all thought grinning. His hair was just a bit longer. Long enough for it to hide his forehead. His eyes were the same as before. As was the rest of him, he'd just grown up a bit. He hadn't changed much after all.
Everyone was smiling and just at that moment there could be heard three different voices. "Renton!" Maurice, Maeter and Linck ran to Renton and embraced him. Renton smiled at them and ruffled their heads. "Sorry I was gone for so long." He said feeling a bit guilty even though it wasn't really his fault. "You better be." A voice said. Renton looked up and saw Holland standing beside him. Renton's face turned a bit sad and guilty. Holland smiled and ruffled his hair. "Don't leave us like that again you hear. We really missed you. There is no gekkostate without Renton Thurston after all." Renton blinked a few times surprised and then smiled back at him. He really missed those guys. "But I have to say, you haven't changed a bit now have you. You're still smaller than me." Holland teased. "Oy! It's only about 10 cm!" Renton said pouting a bit. Holland laughed and ruffled his hair again. He'd really missed doing that. He was 100% sure that he would be doing that a lot now that Renton was back. Especially if Renton would react in that way. Yeah, Renton really hadn't changed. And he didn't mind that at all.
"By the way," Holland said "what happened to those enemies back there? They were gone once Renton stopped the light beam. Do you know what happened after that Renton?" "They ran." Renton said feeling dizziness taking over. The world was spinning and he was so so tired. He knew why of course. Just stopping that one attack had drained all of his energy. He was surprised that he was still standing. "I see. I guess we'll have to be alert from now on." Holland said while walking back. The kids had also returned to Eureka. "Are you coming Renton? We got a lot to talk about." Holland said while smiling. "Renton..?" He said while turning around. Just then Renton fell unconscious on the ground. His energy was up. "RENTON!" Holland yelled and he ran towards the now unconscious Renton. Holland wasn't smiling anymore. He looked scared and worried while shaking Renton's shoulders. "Renton! Oy! Wake up! What's wrong?!" He touched Renton's forehead and let out a gasp. "You're burning up! Oy, Mischa!" Holland yelled out and looked behind him searching for Mischa. The others were standing around them now with worried looks on their faces. "I'm here. I'm here. Bring him to the infirmary." Mischa said already walking to the infirmary. She had a serious look on her face and said: "Hurry up!" Holland picked Renton up and ran after Mischa. Holland looked at Renton worriedly. He looked so pale. He really hoped it wasn't anything serious.
