It had been a long day at work for Lee. He walked up the driveway as the sun was beginning to set. Things hadn't been easy for him and his wife. He'd been working late and she was always working for the senators at the capital building. He had picked up some flowers and wine on the way home. 'Just something nice we both need!' he thought. The flowers were beginning to bloom after winters' chill had finally passed. The days were getting warmer and calmer as business continued to move on. He unlocked the door and stepped in saying 'Honey? I'm home!'. The house seemed quiet and dark. He could hear some low music echoing from the back of the house. He started looking around, trying to figure out where it was coming from.

The living room was empty, as was the den. He walked down the hall and looked in the kitchen. Also, empty. He walked back towards the front door. He thought for a moment. He didn't leave the radio on or the TV upstairs. He cautiously looked upstairs with fear in his gut. Maybe she had just gotten home, decided to watch something upstairs. It seemed unlikely, but he wasn't sure. He slowly began to climb the stairs as thoughts rushed through his head. Burglars? Family? What could it be? He looked from room to room, finding nothing. The bedroom door was slightly closed. He could hear something going on behind the door. He took a few deep breaths and put his hand on the handle. For a brief moment, Lee couldn't move, his body wouldn't move for the fear of might be on the other side. He shook off the fear and slowly opened the door.

Lee's face dropped as he saw what was going on. He saw his wife under the covers with Senator Morris on-top of her, thrusting. Senator Morris was an older man. He was slightly bald with a white hair and beard with thin glasses. Lee dropped the flowers and wine. The bottle broke with a loud crash. Lee stood in shock as the Senator looked up and nearly jumped out of his skin. He grabbed the covers and stood against the wall in fear. His wife tried to hid under the second set of covers, ashamed.

'What the fuck is going on here?!' Lee demanded.

'Lee, this isn't what it looks like!' Morris said.

'Sure as hell looks like you were fucking my wife!' Lee shouted.

'Now, calm down, Lee.' Morris shook with fear. 'We can all be civil about this!'

Senator Morris lunged for his clothes and pulled out a gun. He was sweating hard. Fear and panic all over his face, dripping down. Lee raised his hands, knowing the senator wouldn't dare pull the trigger. His wife looked back and forth at both men in fear. All three breathing heavily, waiting for something to happen.

'You don't have to do this.' Lee said. 'No one has to get hurt!'

'How do you know that?' Morris asked in fear.

'Just put the damn gun down.' Lee said calmly, reaching out.

Morris looked at Lee, then back at the gun. Lee slowly put his fingers around the barrel of the gun. Morris jerked the gun as Lee locked his hand around it. Both struggled with the gun twisting it.

'Let go!' Morris shouted.

'Just stop!' Lee shouted.

Morris tugged and twisted and Lee held tight and tried to pry it from his hands. Morris was dripping in sweat. Pulling and twisting it to get it out of Lee's hands. He found his finger on the trigger. He pulled hard.

BANG

Lee looked at his body, trying to see where he'd been shot. Nothing. He looked back at Morris. There was a small hole in his chest. Blood began to pour out of it. Lee's wife screamed in horror. Lee was stunned. Morris slid back against the wall as he saw the blood and looked back up at Lee. There was nothing but fear in his eyes. Blood began to drip out of his mouth. The look in Morris' eyes turned to anger. He opened his mouth to speak, but just coughed up blood. He layed his head back and gave Lee an evil look.

'Bastard...' he coughed.

Lee stepped back. Morris closed his eyes and his head tilted forward. Blood began dripping out of his mouth and onto the covers. Lee stepped back even further, still in complete shock. He couldn't find his breath. He looked over at his wife, who was in tears.

'You murdered him!' She cried in anger.

'No...' Lee whispered.

His wife began shouting and screaming. He could barely hear it over his own fear. He slowly closed his eyes, wishing it all was over, like it never happened. The shouting began to fade. He stood silently with his hands together. He felt a bright light hit him hard in the face. He slowly opened his eyes to see the outside of the courthouse. He walked down the steps slowly, in handcuffs. There was an old man waiting in front of a police car. The officer walking him down the steps walked up to the older officer.

'This one's going to the Meriwether County Correctional Facility.' He said. 'We got all his paperwork here.

The older officer took the folders and threw it in the passenger's seat. The officer put Lee in the back of the vehicle. He shut the door. Lee sat there, ready to finally leave Atlanta once and for all. He could hear the officers talking. Something about 'dead people walking'. Complete nonsense! The officer handed the older officer the keys to the handcuffs, patted him on the shoulder and left. The older officer put the keys on his belt and climbed in the car.

'You ready to go, sport?' He asked.

'Yeah... let's get started.' Lee said.
