GLAD YOU'RE HOME

One-shot that takes place in my "Ranger Danger" reality after "Mondo's Last Stand". Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. I only own the plot. This is not meant as slash.
Tommy and Rocky walked into the youth center to see that Billy, Katherine, Adam, Tanya, and Jason were already there, the last of the group going through a warm up.
"Hey, guys," Rocky greeted. Then, as the Gold Ranger finished his warm ups, "Jase, you want a spar?"
"Uh, maybe later. I promised somebody else I'd spar with them and then spend the day with them," Jason answered.
"Who?" the others asked. Then, a boy around Jason's age with chestnut hair wearing a blue shirt, covered by a tattered gray hoodie, and blue jeans came into the youth center.
"Yo Jason, you ready?" he asked.
"Bring it on," came the response. With that, the boy lunged at Jason, knocking him down. Jason merely rolled backwards, causing the other boy to tumble over his shoulders. Both boys jumped to their feet and the Rangers were surprised to see the grins on the boys' faces. Curtis bent down to do a leg sweep, which Jason expertly blocked, and then retaliated with a side kick. The Rangers watched as the two continued their routine for several minutes
"Man, I'm glad you're home, Jase," Curtis stated after a while. "I've missed my sparring partner."
"It's good to be home. I've missed you too." Rocky, Tanya, Adam, and Katherine looked at each other in confusion.
"Who is this guy?" Rocky wondered.
"An old friend of Jason's," Billy responded. Curtis let out a punch and then a kick, which Jason blocked, and then lashed out with a roundhouse and reverse front kick.
"Wow. They're really in sync," Tanya noted.
"Yeah, they often sparred together before Jason left," Billy stated. Tommy didn't say anything, but continued to watch. He remembered watching them spar and was still amazed at how differently Jason sparred when he was with Curtis. It was practically playful. Oh sure, whenever he and Jason sparred together they had fun, but he had always noticed a difference when Jason and Curtis teamed up. Though, it could be because they had a connection due to that mind control project they had both been in a few years back. But sometimes Tommy wondered if their connection ran deeper. There was just something about the way they interacted with each other. It was as if they knew that they could pull out all the stops during a session without hurting each other. Adam bit back a gasp as Curtis threw a kick near a very sensitive part of Jason's body. However, the boy quickly blocked and then did a leg sweep. Curtis landed on his back with a thump.
"You okay, man?" Jason queried.
"Yeah, man, I'm good," Curtis answered. "Now help me up," he continued. Jason laughed and offered his hand. Curtis grabbed it and Jason pulled him up.
"Come on. Let's go to The Blitz and meet the others," Curtis suggested.
"Morphinominal idea," Jason agreed.
"That reminds me: it's good seeing you back in action," Curtis stated. They laughed as they walked out and the others looked at each other in alarm.
"He knows Jason's a Power Ranger?" Katherine asked softly.
"He found out a long time ago…when it was the original six," Billy answered in the same tone. They nodded. That made sense. Then, they watched as the two walked out.
