There it was, Holly City ED. All those years of training and revising had come down to this. I didn't think I had ever been so nervous, but I knew I had to do it otherwise my dream of being a doctor would just be a dream. So, I decided to go in...

As the two double doors closed behind me, I took my first look of where I would be working. I had never been in this hospital before because I had just moved from London; so I hadn't a clue where to go! Unexpectedly, a kind-looking man walked over to talk to me, his name was Noel; I read his name badge on his un-ironed t-shirt. "Hello," he said with a grin on his face, "you look a bit lost, can I help you?"
"Erm... I am looking for Dr Hanna... I am the new doctor here." I stuttered.
Noel replied, "Oh! Well, you must be Elizabeth Jefferys then!"
"Yeah, it's Liz though."
"Oh, Sorry. Well Liz, take a seat! She will be with you in a minute and don't look so worried. She doesn't bite too much!" He laughed and walked off.
'Well,' I thought, 'I guess I better sit down then.'

Making me jump, two babies started screaming at the top of their voices. Looking over my shoulder, I saw a mother and her son cradling the two new-born twins in their arms quickly trying to calm them down. I thought about going over to help them, but a woman came over to me before I could go.
"Liz Jefferys?" She asked.
"Yes?" I replied wearily.
"Hello, I'm Zoe Hanna; Clinical lead." Zoe introduced. "Would you come into my office so we can get started?"

I nodded and followed her through busy corridors full of patients being treated from the minor to the major.

'These corridors don't seem to end!' I thought to myself whilst trying to keep track of which way I was going. Finally, we got to a door, on it a sign- 'Dr Zoe Hanna- Clinical lead'. We both sat down, opposite each other, and started to talk about what would happen today and for the first few days of being a doctor here.

"So," She began, "you will be with a mentor for the first couple of days, to show you around and help you with little things. You don't mind who I put you with do you?"
"No, not at all. Anybody really, I don't mind." I said with a bit more confidence than when I had stepped in here 5 minutes ago.
Zoe announced, "Well then, let's get started! I will send someone over to you in a couple of minutes and that will be who you will be staying with. Just wait in reception until then."
"Ok, thanks." I responded.

So, as I was told, I went to wait down the corridor. It took me a couple of minutes to get there obviously, but I got there in the end. 'I wonder who it will be,' I thought, 'Will they be nice or not? Would they were the person I saw earlier whilst walking into the foyer?' These were the thoughts that were going through my mind as I waited; which felt like hours...
