A/N: So, having a great love for Tina Fey's universe of 30 Rock, I decided to write a second fanfic for it. This one is based on the episode Black Tie Event. I imagined Liz's reactions to Jack's actions with a possible romantic interlude here and there.
Liz watched Jack's reaction as he spotted Bianca in the crowd. As the gracefully aged woman made her way slowly towards them, she edged away from Jack slightly. He wouldn't want to be associated with her if he was to impress his ex; a feat which seemed increasingly important to him.
"Damn the one night Bianca shows up and I'm here alone," Jack grumbled. Liz had known him long enough to take too much offence at those words. It was just Jack's way of thinking. Still, she replied some rhetorical protest to keep some dignity.
Bianca finally approached them and Jack took in a big breath of air.
"Hello Bianca, this is my live-in girlfriend, Liz." Jack said with an air of pride.
Liz froze and stared at him. Had he gone mad? He'd said this wasn't a date and he definitely wasn't treating her any differently than normal, that is to say, cynically and disapproving of nearly every move she made. And now she was his girlfriend? Sparing a quick glance at the clock behind his head, she noticed the time was near when she'd last looked so a coma was out of the question. Then he caught her eye. Do this, please. Just this once. They said.
Plastering a smile on her face, she reached out a hand delicately and politely said, "Elizabeth." She shot him a look hopeing he'd get the drift that he was in no way off the hook.
They exchanged polite banter on the dim-witted personalities of Jack's frequent companions. Liz became hyper aware of everything at once it seemed. She noticed as Jack casually placed his hand on the small of her back. It was hardly a new move but this time seemed more… intimate. She also noticed how Bianca's eyes narrowed as he did this and the frighteningly warm feeling she got from seeing the woman's reaction.
