Behind Blue Eyes

Chapter 01

The graduating class from Konoha's Ninja Academy sat in the normal classroom waiting for the teams to be revealed. Among the graduates were a number of notable individuals. Some clan heirs and others not but they were still notable for other reasons.

First was a boy by the name of Aburame Shino. Shino was quiet almost rudely quiet but when he did speak it was logical and detailed. Shino wore a gray high collar jacket over a dark green shirt and dark gray pants.

Second was Akimichi Choji a heavy set boy who was constantly snacking. He wore a green over shirt over a white under shirt and brown shorts.

Then there Haruno Sakura a girl with pink hair who was more focused on looking good for her precious Sasuke than she was her training. She wore a red dress over black shorts. She was also the smartest girl in class.

Hyuga Hinata was a rather timid girl with the largest bust size in the class but she was also one of the best taijutsu fighters in class. She wore a tan jacket that was a size or two too big to hide her generous bust and purple pants.

Inuzuka Kiba came next he was rather brash and hot headed thinking he was better than he actually was. He wore a gray jacket and brown pants.

After Kiba was a boy by the name of Nara Shikamaru he was rather lazy and close friends with Choji but he was also the smartest in class even smarter than Sakura. He wore a gray short sleeved jacket over a mesh shirt and black pants.

Uchiha Sasuke was arrogant and broody caring for no one with the only goal of getting stronger and getting more power. He wore a blue high collar shirt and khaki shorts.

Then there was Yamanaka Ino a platinum blonde with a bossy attitude and a talent for genjutsu. Ino wore a purple top and skirt with wraps on her on her upper legs and white arm warmers .

Lastly there was Uzumaki Naruto a golden blonde boy with unique whisker mars on his face three on each cheek. Naruto was smart though he hid it well, Naruto was also rather skilled in the ninja arts which was also hidden the only real problem Naruto had was with the kami damned bunshin no jutsu. Naruto had secretly been trained outside the academy by Mitarashi Anko the Snake Mistress of Konoha or as some people called her the snake whore.

Naruto had learned quite a bit from Anko he learned taijutsu, ninjutsu, stealth, assassination, and surprisingly seduction, counter seduction, and several kunoichi classes that worked well with a seduction specialization. Anko had questioned Naruto on why he wanted to learn seduction and the boy said that he could make solid transformations and that if he was out on a team it would be useful to gather information. Naruto also stated that none of the girls in his class took their careers seriously so he figured that he could use the skills to pick up some of the slack, or so he said.

Today though the graduating class was supposed to be getting their team assignments having passed the exam, even Naruto passed after displaying a superior clone jutsu and when asked where he learned it he said he learned it from his sensei. This surprised Iruka but the man didn't question it further.

Naruto was looking forward to seeing who was on his team and silently prayed he would get a team he could work with though he knew for sure he didn't want to be on the same team as Sasuke or any of his fangirls. Just then Iruka walked into the classroom pulling Naruto from his thoughts.

"Alright this may be the last time we see each other in this classroom I would like each of you to know that I am proud of you all and I hope you all take what you have learned and apply it to in your careers as honorable shinobi of the Leaf. Now without further adieu let's get to the placement of your genin teams. Team One…" Iruka began to say.

Naruto was listening closely to the teams hoping he would get on a team that he could work with he wanted to be on a team with his friends but he highly doubted it as he was pretty sure his friends would be grouped together and recreate the team of their fathers. It wasn't widely known that Naruto and the children of the legendary Ino-Shika-Cho were friends if fact it seemed that only the parents and Naruto's own jiji seemed to be the only ones who knew of the bond. Naruto also kind of hoped to be paired with Ino to try and help her get over her ridiculous fangirl crush and so far had been holding back the urge to flat out tell her that she was disgracing her fellow Kunoichi.

"Team Seven will be Uchiha Sasuke, Nara Shikamaru, and Inuzuka Kiba. Team Eight will be Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura, and Yamanaka Ino." Iruka called out.

Naruto's head hit his desk rather hard. 'I'm doomed I would be fine with Ino and someone else but I got both Ino and Sakura and both ignore their training.'

Sakura sulked because she wasn't with her precious Sasuke-kun and Ino seemed to have mixed emotions one she wasn't with Sasuke but she was with her friend Naruto but she also had Sakura the platinum blonde was very confused about how to feel. Ino did bare minimum training because of her father forcing her to train but she still wasn't taking her training seriously and also dieted.

"Team Nine is still in circulation from last year. Leaving Team Ten with Akimichi Choji, Aburame Shino, and Hyuuga Hinata. Your Jounin Sensei will be here after lunch you are all dismissed until then." Iruka said calmly.

Naruto needed to think so he left the academy and went to Ichiraku Ramen Naruto ordered his usual three bowls of Pork Ramen and sat to think he knew that he had to find a way to get both Ino and Sakura out of their fangirl ways of thinking but how would he do so. Naruto knew plenty of strong kunoichi like Uzuki Yugao, Mitarashi Anko, and Yuhi Kurenai and none of them had fangirl tendencies in fact all three of them would be disgusted by how many of the girls of his class acted. Naruto knew Ino would be mad at him but he would have to be blunt and tell both of them that they were a disgrace to all proud kunoichi that came before them.

After lunch the students were back in their old classroom and they saw eight individual in front of the classroom, though Naruto was sure their should have been nine. Naruto was waiting patiently for his team to be called he was hoping that his new sensei would be able to help him get both Ino and Sakura out of their fangirl ways and start to take this job seriously. Naruto was pulled from his thoughts when a woman with black hair and crimson colored eyes stepped forward.

"Team Eight with me." the woman said.

Naruto rose from his seat as did Ino and Sakura. The trio followed the woman until they reached a small cafe and led them inside where they sat at a table and ordered some hot tea though only Naruto and the new woman ordered sweets to go with their tea Naruto ordering a cinnamon bun and the woman ordering dango. The woman noted Ino and Sakura's not ordering anything other than tea and filed it away from later.

"Alright I would like to introduce ourselves tell me your likes, dislikes, hobbies, and dream for the future. I'll start us off." the woman said. "My name is Yuhi Kurenai. I like shochu, vodka, and takowasa. I dislike cake. My hobby is having drinks with friends. Lastly my dream for the future well let's just say it's to make you three the best shinobi you can be. Sakura you are next."

"H-how did you know my name?" Sakura asked.

"I was given a file on each of you and I read over them they all had your names and a picture as well as your academic skills and scores so I know your names what you look like and i have a basic idea of what you can do but I don't know any personal information about you as they are not in the files." Kurenai explained to the pink haired girl.

"Ok. My name is Haruno Sakura i like, well its a boy. My hobbies are," Sakura blushed and said nothing. "And my dream for the future is." another blush and a squeal of joy.

"Anything you dislike?" Kurenai asked.

"Ino-buta and Naruto-baka." Sakura said glaring at her two teammates more so at Naruto.

'Great a fangirl. I'll have to stamp that out of her.' Kurenai thought before pointing at Ino. "Ino you're next."

"Yamanaka Ino. I like my friends, red bean soup, cherry tomatoes, pudding, and a certain boy. I dislike sashimi. My hobbies are shopping and gardening. And my dream for the future I guess you could say it would be to become a worthy kunoichi and marry said boy." Ino said.

'Slight fangirl issues but not as bad as Sakura maybe I can work with her and get rid of those pesky fangirl tendencies.' Kurenai thought. "Naruto you're last it seems."

"Uzumaki Naruto. I like my friends, ramen, and red bean soup. My hobbies are pulling pranks, watering my plants, training and Fuinjutsu. I dislike perverts, rapists, the time it takes to cook ramen, and most of all fangirls. My dream for the future is to surpass the hokage and earn the respect of the villagers." Naruto said firmly.

"That was a lot more detailed that I was expecting to be honest. Ok now that I know a little more about each of you I want us all to meet tomorrow at training ground eight at nine." Kurenai said as she finished the last of her tea and dango. "You are all dismissed."

Kurenai was sitting across from the Hokage who held a solemn look on his face wondering why she wanted to talk to him about her team.

"So you want to know why I gave you Naruto, Ino, and Sakura correct?" the aged kage asked.

"Yes sir." Kurenai replied.

"It's simple really. You see Naruto hates fangirls and he is very honest and blunt about his emotions. In the end I am hoping that his disdain for fangirls as well as your own status as a strong kunoichi are enough to get both Ino and Sakura out of their current state. While Ino isn't as bad as Sakura Ino still only does bare minimum training because of her father and status as clan heiress. Sakura on the other hand is civilian born and her parents let her ignore her training completely thus she has only ever done what the academy makes her do. Also you are the best person to help Naruto with his chakra control problems as you know more exercises beyond tree climbing and water walking." Hirzen explained.

"I see. Thank you for clearing that up for me." Kurenai said.

"Kurenai I singled you out as Naruto's teacher for a reason unlike Kakashi who will no doubt favor the Uchiha on his team despite Naruto being his sensei's son something Kakashi most likely doesn't even know as Naruto's heritage has been kept secret. Then there was Auma who quite honestly would only be able help Naruto if he had a primary wind element affinity, no it had to be you Kurenai trust me when I say this." the aging kage said looking to Kurenai.

"I understand Hokage-sama." Kurenai said bowing her head to leave.

The next morning the members of team eight arrived at the designated training ground at a little before nine. Waiting for them was Kurenai and a woman Naruto recognised instantly as his somewhat secret sensei.

"Anko-sensei?" Naruto asked.

"Huh? Naruto? Nai-chan you didn't tell me Naruto was on your team this makes things a little different." the woman known to be Anko said.

"Don't call me that. And I am sorry i didn't inform you of who was on my team but I needed you to form a plan that would challenge them all." Kurenai explained.

"Oh my plan hasn't changed Nai-chan but I can guarantee Naruto will be the last one standing out of the three of them." Anko said.

Meanwhile Naruto was talking to his new teammates.

"Ok Sakura, Ino you two need to follow my lead if we have to fight her she has trained me for quite a while now outside the academy so I know how to beat her if we work together." Naruto said.

"Why would I do anything you say Naruto-baka." Sakura said folding her arms over her small chest.

"Didn't you hear what Naruto just said." Ino spoke up defending her friend. "He has the most experience fighting her since she trained him. I know I couldn't hold my own against her she is a Tokubetsu Jounin thats one rank below my dad we have to work together."

"So what Naruto is a baka she had the worst grades in class." Sakura said still being defiant.

"Actually I didn't have the worst grades, Kiba did my grades were pretty average and that's only because I was holding back in the academy since Anko wasn't training me as an academy student." Naruto explained.

"Whatever baka" Sakura said.

Unbenounced to the fresh genin the two older women were listening in on their conversation.

"Wow Nai-chan Pinky really has it out for Naruto you sure bout this?" Anko asked a little worried.

"I need Ino and Sakura to see that their diet and lack of training is suicidal in a real fight Naruto can carry his own weight but he will need their help and the sooner they understand that then the sooner i can take them on serious missions." Kurenai explained to her friend.

Back with the trio. "Sakura you can't fight her alone none of us can well except maybe Naruto he has always had the best scores in taijutsu second only to Sasuke-kun. We need to work together if we have any hopes of beating her." Ino said.

Kurenai interrupted the trio. "Alright here's the deal you have to pass one last test fail and you go back to the academy pass and you get to remain genin. Your test is to fight Anko and survive until the timer runs out Anko has two bells on her your goal is to try and secure a bell the failure will will be sent to the academy."

The three genin hopefuls were shocked but Naruto looked to Sakura and Ino. "We will never get a bell on our own we have to work together."

"Shut up baka you are probably just going to use us to get a bell for yourself and leave me and Ino to fend for ourselves." Sakura said.

Naruto was started to get annoyed by Sakura continued verbal bullying.

"I'm not that selfish but I know better than anyone here on how she fights she was MY sensei until graduation." Naruto repeated himself he really hated repeating himself.

"Whatever baka." Sakura said.

"Sakura cut it out with calling Naruto a baka he is actually rather smart. And I for one trust him we have to fight together." Ino said firmly.

Kurenai interrupted them again "You have until noon to get a bell. Best of luck."

With that all three genin vanished into the surrounding tree line Ino was willing to work with her friend as she knew she didn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against Anko without Naruto's help. Naruto was watching his sensei from a rather good vantage point completely hidden from view and Sakura was doing a rather poor job of hiding in a bush.

'I will get a bell regardless of what that baka said.' Sakura thought to herself.

Anko looked around the clearing she easily spotted Sakura and then found Ino who was in a tree though Ino was better concealed than Sakura what worried Anko though was the fact she couldn't find her student and mentally cursed she knew Naruto was a natural in the stealth arts hell she had him sign the snake contract and taught him some of her special ninjutsu involving their snakes. Though no one knew Naruto had signed the snake contract.

Naruto using his unrivaled stealth crept over to where Ino was hiding and appeared behind the girl and whispered into her ear. "We need to help Sakura she is to stubborn to see that she can't win so we will have to help her without her knowing about it."

Ino jumped slightly from the sudden arrival of Naruto's voice but remained hidden and nodded her head.

Sakura threw three shuriken from her hiding spot which Anko easily dodged and turned to face Sakura who rushed forward and began a taijutsu fight with Anko. Seeing Sakura engaging Anko Naruto and Ino rushed in from Anko's blind spot and joined the fight much to Sakura's annoyance.

"I don't need your help Ino-buta and Naruto-baka."Sakura shouted only to be hit in the diaphragm and and knocked back and doubled over out of air.

Naruto took over fighting Anko directly and Ino dropped back to a support position to help Sakura to her feet and and catch her breath. Meanwhile Naruto was doing rather well against Anko who was fighting at a genin level Ino was surprised by how well Naruto was doing as was Sakura but she refused to admit it. Naruto came close to getting a bell a few times but ultimately he failed to get one. Ino and Sakura were simply watching the fight both knowing they would just be in Naruto's way as much as Sakura hated to admit it. Soon the timer sounded and and Naruto and Anko stopped their fight.

Kurenai was shaking her head disapprovingly at the two girls but congratulated Naruto for his good work at holding the enemy at bay for as long as he did. Ino felt ashamed she was useless in the fight and Sakura was well she was pissed saying that Naruto was just trying to hog the glory and that she didn't need his help which annoyed Anko.

"Look gaki I trained Naruto beyond that of any genin he only lacks actual combat experience you two fangirls need to wake up and take your careers seriously if you hope to survive your first real mission out of the village hell when I was fighting you Pinky it felt like i was fighting a civilian and that's just sad for a kunoichi you two are a disgrace to real kunoichi like myself and Nai-chan." Anko scolded the two.

Kurenai spoke up next. "I'm not going to fail you three only because it wouldn't be fair to Naruto to send him back to the academy so you two owe your ranks to Naruto had it not been for him you two would be going back to the academy but believe you me I will be training you into the dirt with Anko's help."

"I told you to trust Naruto but no you had to be stubborn and not listen. Naruto would never steer us wrong and if we both took our careers seriously from the start we might have actually been able to help Naruto and get the bells." Ino said agreeing with her new sensei.
