A green flash of light. [NO!] He hadn't missed. She was dead. [LILY, NO!]

"LILY!" he screamed at the top of his voice, his own empty cry ringing in his ears long after he'd woken up. "Lily, no..." he sobbed, the pain wrapping itself around him like a noose, pulling tighter around his throat, stopping his breathing. [Die. Just die] The loss clawed at his chest, ripping at his heart and his chest, his body now doubled over and contorted. [Let me join her].

Being awake was a form of sanctuary. He watched across the table in silent respect for this dark leader. His evil, snake-like face glinted in malice, the darkness in him practically tangible. [He will be brought down. He will die for what he did]. As he strode away from the meeting, his mind drifted back to his nightmare. It wasn't the first time he'd had it, but it had been more real, more vivid this time. It scared him.

His own dark mark felt heavy on his arm. He knew what Hogwarts students thought of him. He tried not to care. Stupid Potter. With his stupid Father. And that goddamn beautiful mother of his...

"SEVERUS!" He span round, wand drawn. It was Bellatrix. She looked a bit dishevelled. She always did. "I've been calling you!" she grinned. "Next kill for your thoughts?" He shook his head.

"What do you want?" She shrugged and fell into step beside him. Their silence was comforting. Gave him something to concentrate on.
