"So, Yami…I was wondering, would you go out with me?" Anzu asked shyly. She'd had a crush on Yami since freshman year in high school…and they were now seniors.

Yami sighed and looked Anzu square in the eyes, he really hated being in this position though sadly it happened every now and then, "Anzu, you're a great girl you really are but, I don't like you that way." Yami said slowly.

Anzu's eyes dropped to the ground and Yami felt absolutely horrible when he noticed her eyes begin to tear up. Yami sighed again and rested his hand on Anzu's shoulder, "I really am sorry Anzu but, I'm already seeing someone else." Yami said.

Anzu glanced up and wiped her eyes and nodded before she walked away.

Yami leaned back against his locker, his eyes sliding shut. He really hated breaking people's hearts; he knew how it felt to have his heart broken too. Back when he was a sophomore he had asked a boy he'd liked a junior by the name of Marik Ishtar, if he would like to go out for a bite to eat.

Marik had smiled, nodded and said, "Yeah, when and where?"

Yami had grinned widely and said, "Burger world at 4 okay with you?"

Marik again had nodded and confirmed that he'd be there. And he had shown up and they ate, with Yami footing the bill. Marik had then asked Yami if he would like to take a walk with him and Yami had agreed.

However, that was when Yami found out the truth. Marik led Yami to a group of his friends who had been standing and waiting for him and then he threw the first punch in what they'd called the 'faggot re-education'.

However, Yami couldn't help but smile when he thought back on that. Marik may have broken his heart but that beating had also been how he met his current boyfriend. Atemu, who was a Domino High School senior, had been walking by and when he saw what had been going on he stepped in and managed to get the bigots to clear off.

He then had picked Yami, who was barely conscious, up and pulled out his cellphone and called his cousin and told him he needed a ride to the hospital.

He had taken Yami to the hospital and even insisted on staying with him while they waited two hours for a doctor to examine him and after he was deemed healthy…no other major injuries other than some pretty badly bruises ribs, Atemu had driven him home.

That was how those two turned into very close friends, and by extension Yami also became friends with Seto Kaiba, Atemu's cousin.

Six months later he'd gotten up the courage and asked Atemu out.

However, that time he didn't get his heart broken.

Yami jumped slightly when he felt someone else's body press him against his locker, however he relaxed when the familiar smell of Atemu's cologne drifted into his nose.

"Something wrong Yami?" Atemu asked.

Yami opened his eyes and smiled at his boyfriend before shaking his head, "Nah Até, nothings wrong. I was just thinking about some stuff." Yami said.

Atemu looked at him for a moment before he nodded and leaned down pecking Yami on the cheek, "When you didn't come out to meet me I got worried someone had tried something."

Yami wrapped his arms around Atemu's neck and pecked him on the cheek before teasingly whispering, "Aww, you were worried about me."

Atemu chuckled before he slipped Yami's back off his shoulder and shouldered it himself, he stepped back and grabbed Yami's hand in his and said, "Come on Yami. Let's get you home so you can get ready for our date tonight."

Yami nodded and allowed Atemu to tug him down the hall a huge smile on his lips.

He may have hated breaking Anzu's heart but he knew that she, like him, would eventually find the one that was meant for her. He wished her the best because she really wasn't a bad person and she deserved to find happiness in someone's arms, just like he had with Atemu.
