Let there be Lightman

Disclaimer: I don´t own Prison Break or Lie To Me.

"-escaped from Fox River Penitentiary because I was sentenced to death for a crime I did not commit. I did not murder Terrence Steadman. He committed suicide last night in the Cutback Motel, 30 miles outside of his home in Blackfoot, Montana."

Dr. Cal Lightman, founder of the Lightman Group and the world´s leading deception expert, looked up from his slouched position on the couch as the broadcast continued on. He hadn´t really paid the television any mind but now he straitened, focusing his gaze on the screen as the camera shifted to show Michael Scofield.

"He killed himself out of fear. Fear of the people who have been hiding him for the past three years. The same people who want my brother dead!"

Cal was intrigued. Lincoln Burrows and his brother, Michael, had oblivious gone through a lot of trouble to broadcast this interview.

It was next to impossible to not know of these two men: Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield. The younger brother, Michael, who had staged a bank robbery and sentenced himself to 5 years of prison with the one goal of breaking out his brother before his execution.

For a long time the media hadn´t been talking about anything else, which was why there likely weren´t anybody around who hadn´t just once heard about the infamous Fox River Eight - and the one man behind it all.

So why go through all this trouble, claiming their innocence on national television when their body languages was so clearly contradicting their words?

"They don't want you to know who they are, but know this: They've stolen billions of dollars and murdered dozens of innocent people. And yet they plaster our faces on the news, and tell you to be afraid. They are a group of multinationals with corporate interests. Together, they're known as The Company. They are working with the highest levels of government, including the president of the United States."

Keeping an eye on the television he found his phone and quickly making use of speed dial it didn´t take long for the person on the other end to pick up. Cal didn´t however give her a chance to form her normal greeting before talking.

"Gillian, you´re seeing it too, aren´t you?"

"Cal-"

"They are telling the truth, love."

"I know, but are you really-"

Her voice slowly faded as Michael Scofield´s face once again dominated the screen.

"Much blame has been placed on another innocent person, Dr. Sara Tancredi. Sara, if you're listening, I know I can't ask you for another chance. I only hope by now you've found your safe haven. I took advantage of you, of your commitment to help others and put your in a place that's every doctor's nightmare. I've considered many ways to apologize, but I must arrive at one."

"We find the doctor and we find the brothers. What do you say, love - just like old times, eh?"
