So this is a totally partially true thing that occurred yesterday while I was talking to my friend. This has been edited, if anyone's interested.

Btdubs it's from my own point of view for the first part.

Serena and I were goofing off during recess as usual, just making conversation out of the daily happenings.

There was an awkward silence as she sat and gazed at the sun.

"So what planet are you doing for our science assignment?" I questioned suddenly, bumping her leg with my knee. We rarely ever talked about what work was assigned in our separate classes. As far as we were concerned what happened in class, stays in class.

"Uh, Jupiter. I'm almost done already," she replied with a self-satisfied smile.

I rolled my eyes. Leave it to Serena, who was a total smarty-pants and perfectionist, to be almost finished before I had even started. "Knew it. I was gonna do Neptune but I chose Mercury instead, because my friend Chantal says I look like a child of Hermes. Also because almost everyone else was doing Neptune too."

"Hey, what kinda demigod do you think I would be?"

I looked at her closely. With her coffee brown skin and dark hair and eyes, she didn't fit the cookie-cutter molds of the demigods. "I'm thinking a daughter of Demeter," I said, straining a few strands of her short hair so that the sparse red strands caught the sunlight.

She pouted, obviously disappointed with my choice. "I think my personality better fits a daughter of Athena. Besides, Demeter is kinda lame."

"Yeah, but, no offense, you would sorta stick out like a sore thumb in the Athena cabin."

We both laughed. "Maybe I'm a daughter of Zeus!" Serena stuttered out in between giggles.

That just got us laughing harder. Some people looked at us a little funny, but we ignored them.

"It would be so weird if they were watching us right now." I said.

We both stopped laughing.

ON OLYMPUS

It was a small meeting that day, not big enough for Hades to come from the Underworld. The gods were chatting quietly and Hermes was flicking through scenes of his unclaimed children over an Iris Message. He came to an image of two girls talking and he heard his name mentioned.

"Everyone shush!" With an insistent wave of his hand, Athena and Aphrodite stopped arguing and Artemis looked up from her book.

The throne room fell quiet.

"Hey, what kinda demigod do you think I would be?" one girl asked the other.

Her fair hair shimmered in the sunlight as she tilted her head to the side in indecision. "I'm thinking a daughter of Demeter," she remarked after a pause.

The gods and goddesses all turned to the agriculture goddess, who was watching the scene play out with mild interest.

"She's not one of mine." Demeter shook her head. "Too old. I claim my children much younger than her."

"I think my personality better fits a daughter of Athena. Besides, Demeter is kinda lame."

Apollo snorted at the enraged expression on his aunt's face. "Ooh, burned by a mortal."

"I'm not lame!" Demeter cried out in disbelief. "She looked around the throne room, clutching the armrests of her throne. "Right? right!?"

After thousands of years of experience with her, we all knew better than to even try to say anything.

"Yeah, but, no offense, you would sorta stick out like a sore thumb in the Athena Cabin." The line went crinkly as they both dissolved into peals of laugther that had them gripping at their sides.

"Just because someone says no offense it doesn't make it any less offensive," Artemis pointed out.

Ares turned to Athena. "Why do your children look like that?" he asked innocently. "I mean, they're all blonde, and you're not."

The olympians regarded the war god with matching looks that had him feeling like he had just discerned the meaning of life itself.

"I didn't know you had a thing for blondes?" Apollo remarked with a sly grin.

The glare that Athena shot him was scathing enough to wipe it right off of his face.

"Maybe I'm a daughter of Zeus!" exclaimed the wannabe daughter of Demeter, making them both laugh even harder.

Zeus was clearly offended. "There isn't anything wrong with that."

"Says you."

Aphrodite nodded at Poseidon's comment. "He's right, you know."

"Shhhh," Hermes quieted them.

"It would be so weird if they were watching us now."

They all exchanged a look.

This was done purely because I was bored and I didn't feel like writing anything else.
