She Saw

She saw the way he looked at her; the way his eyes would go soft and would be filled of pain and sorrow. She saw the way he would stare at her with longing; the way his eyes shouted so clearly, I love her. She saw his mask; the way it would always be on, wherever he went, only slipping once or twice and always, while looking at her.

She saw the way she looked at him. The way she would always avoid his gaze, trying to avoid him seeing the truth that lied within. The truth she saw. She saw the way she would always try to act strong, but at night would cry to sleep, clutching a picture of them to her chest as if her life depended on it.

She saw everything. She their love: something so pure, so unassailable, so true.

She saw the pain, the desperation, the wanting.

She saw.
