Yeah! My first fanfic that's not based off of a video game! (Well, actually this movie is a movie about video games, so...) I hope you like it! Please reveiw!
The sun hung in the sky, shining over the candy-coated kingdom. It never rose, and it never set. It was simply programmed that way. It even shone at 10:00 pm, which was the current time in the real world. In the video game Sugar Rush, the racers geared up for their nightly Random Roster Race to decide who would be in the next day's lineup. Everyone came to compete.
Well, almost everyone.
Only Vanellope von Schweets didn't compete. It's not as though she didn't want to. In fact, she wanted to race more than anything! But she was forbidden, only because she was a glitch. Vanellope tried to hide it, but it was no use. It was uncontrollable. She couldn't help bursting into a thousand blue pixels and then becoming one again. She couldn't teleporting from place to place with no control whatsoever. And she couldn't help that the other racers bullied her.
They treated her like garbage. Vanellope spent her days being picked on by the others, especially Taffyta Muttonfudge. She tried being nice, she tried fitting in, but Vanellope couldn't go ten minutes without hearing the insulting nickname "Glitch".
Vanellope knew she was a good racer, but she never got the chance to show it. Years of rejection had morphed her into a more solitary figure, so solitary, in fact, that she started living alone in an abandoned mountain. It wasn't the most comfortable living space availible, but it was better than getting bullied.
And just when it seemed as if all hope was lost, Vanellope saw something glittering high in a candy cane tree. A shiny, golden medal reading "hero" hung from a branch. Vanellope remembered the price for entering the Random Roster Race: one gold coin. The medal wasn't exact, but it was close enough to fool the machine that would let her enter the race. So she climbed the tree and grabbed the glittering object. As she looked at it, she knew that this was the key to her destiny. With that medal, she was finally going to enter the Random Roster Race.
Today, Venellope von Schweets was going to race. And she was going to show the others that she was more than just a glitch.
