How We Lost Our Ears and Tails
My mom always told me, my twin brother, Sora, and my big brother, Cloud, to stay away from people who no longer had their ears and tails. Sure, we listened for awhile. That is until Cloud broke the biggest rule of all.
Cloud had been going out with a man called Squall (but everyone called him Leon). One night Cloud stayed over at Leon's house and didn't come back the following morning. Sora and I went to Leon's home and found Cloud. Cloud's black ears and black tail were gone. Leon's ears and tail were also missing. Leon was trying to comfort my big brother, as he held on to Leon tightly.
When Cloud finally came home Mom was shocked. Sora and I were sent up stairs. We listened to Mom and Cloud arguing from our bedroom. They began yelling; Mom started to cry. This went on for what seemed forever, until Sora and I heard heavy footsteps stomping up the stairs. We both ran towards the door and opened it slightly, sticking our heads out so we could see what was happening. Cloud stomped into his room, then returned minutes later with a large duffel bag slung over his shoulder.
Cloud began walking toward our room; his eyes were closed and his head hung as he walked closer. Sora and I quickly ran back to our beds. Less than a minute later Cloud opened the door and looked over at both of us. My twin and I stood beside our beds as Cloud walked closer to us.
"Cloud, are you leaving?" I asked, worriedly.
"Please don't leave!" Sora added. Tears streamed down his face, and I could not help but feel upset also.
"Don't worry," Cloud said, kneeling in front of us, so to be at our height. "I'll see you soon." He brought Sora and I closer to him and pulled us into a tight hug. Sora continued to cry hard, and I was trying to keep my tears back.
Cloud released us and wished us a good night. He carried the crying Sora to his bed beside mine and laid him down. I climbed into my own bed and watched as Cloud left the room and our lives.
