Title: Take It Easy
Rated: M
Notes: L is 24; this is based on what happened to my best friend. L would be her and I would be Watari.
Beta: Taloolah P
Story:
L lay sulking in the hospital bed sucking his thumb. He had been bought in by an ambulance as he had been getting terrible stomach pains. Watari sat next to him grinning at him and holding his hand.
"You'll be ok son." Watari said rubbing his hand.
L nodded and turned on his side curling up as a few tears fell.
He was scared, he never liked hospitals as he spent so much time in them as a child when in Whammy Orphanage due to being teased and beaten by the other kids there.
Watari sighed and reached over hugging him. He had legally adopted L when he was ten years old; he had always cared greatly for the boy.
Five hours later the nurse came back with L's blood results, which he had cried greatly over when taken, to tell them that L would have to have his appendix out.
L whimpered at the thought of surgery. Watari stroked his back and reassured him he would be ok.
"I'll be the first person you see when you wake son." Watari said softly before L was wheeled off to have the surgery.
Two hours later L was bought out still under from the general anaesthetic.
Watari sat beside him watching over his amazing brave son. Ten minutes later L stirred and groaned as his eyes fluttered open.
"Hey there little one." Watari said gently stroking L's hair from his face.
"Mmm daddy?" he asked groggily.
"Yes I'm here you're ok." Watari said softly.
"Did it go well?" he asked.
"Perfectly, you have to stay in over night just for observation but then we can get you home, although they said to take it easy for a bit." He told him.
A week later L was recovering well and sat in Watari's arms as they read by the fire.
L dosed off, head resting on Watari's chest as he sucked his thumb.
Watari smiled down at him and closed the book, placing it down he picked up L and carried him to bed changing him into some soft pink pyjamas with teddy bears on. Pulling the covers over him he kissed his forehead and turned off the light.
"Goodnight my son, I love you always." He whispered.
