"Bros before hoes," Puck stated, walking down the hallway with his brother. "That was always my mantra through high school. Well," he qualified, "it was after I knocked up my best friend's girlfriend," he finished with a slight smirk.

Jake looked at his brother with just a touch of disappointment. "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree," he thought to himself.

"Speak of the devil," Puck announced. "Here's the devil I knocked up," he said as they approached Quinn Fabray who was walking towards them, her eyes on Jake Puckerman. "Hey Quinn," he greeted her. Quinn ignored him.

"Stay away from Marley," Quinn instructed Jake, her finger prodding his chest.

"I got this little bro," Puck said as he stepped nearer to Quinn. He watched as her mouth moved, not hearing her words. Watched her animated face, breathed deeply taking in the scent that could only be Quinn Fabray. Puck felt the rest of the world recede, there was only the two of them. He took a breath and started singing, playing his guitar, coloured stage lights flashing around them:

"I thought it would be easy,
But it ain't for me
It's kinda hard, when you lay your heart
On a one-way street
I really thought by now
You woulda slipped my mind
But the kind of love sent from above
Is the killing kind
Put my mind to rest and try to sleep it off
It'll be alright when the morning comes
Or am I wrong

Ain't no doubt about it
I can't live without it
Tried to forget you
But I can't get you outta my head
Just when I think you're gone
You come back and turn it on
And just like a simple song
I can't get you outta my head

Well I saw you dancin'
Dancin' in my dreams
I saw your face and I can't erase
All the things I've seen
Even if I try,
Cause Lord knows I've tried
I can't escape
And I can't shake the pain inside, oh
Crazy when she comes and crazy as she goes
I'm holding out my hands with nothing left to show
Guess it's the way it goes

Ain't no doubt about it
I can't live without it
Tried to forget you
But I can't get you outta my head
Just when I think you're gone
You come back and turn it on
And just like a simple song
I Can't get you outta my head

Can't get you outta my head

Can't get you outta my head

Crazy when she comes and crazy as she goes
I'm holding out my hands with nothing left to show
Guess that's the way it goes

Ain't no doubt about it
I can't live without it
Tried to forget you
But I can't get you outta my head
Just when I think you're gone
You come back and turn it on
And just like a simple song
Can't get you outta my head"

Puck glanced round wide eyed, wondering where the hell he'd been for the last few minutes. He saw students passing, oblivious to the awesome song he'd just rocked out. He saw his brother looking at him in complete confusion. He saw Quinn staring at him like he was something she'd stepped in.

"Oh my God," Quinn exclaimed. "You're still an idiot, I can't believe I was ever stupid enough to have sex with you," she snorted then turned and marched away.

"What was that all about?" Jake asked his brother. "One second you were going to give it to her for laying in to me about Marley, the next you went all sappy, starry eyed and vacant. And you let her talk to me like I'm you and dad. I'm not like you, I respect girls," he insisted.

Puck got himself together enough to call after Quinn just before she disappeared round the corner. "You used that excuse in sophomore year," he shouted. Quinn turned as he got ready with his parting shot. "What was your excuse all through last summer?" he turned and winked at his brother. "She is so going to be in my bed tonight," he announced with a huge grin.
