Chapter One – Young's Decision
Summary: As the title says, it's New Year's aboard The Destiny.

A/N: It's New Year's Eve here in Australia so I thought I might write a New Year's piece for SGU. Happy New Year's everyone.
I made the decision after Christmas to not let anyone aboard The Destiny us the communication stones for New Year's. it just wasn't fair for everyone, I learnt that the hard way over Christmas.
Everyone was gathered down in the gateroom, it was December 28 and I was about to inform everyone of my decision. I walked half way down the stairs on the left side of the Stargate and stopped.
"Everyone listen up," I paused and waited for everyone to be quiet, "I have made the decision that over New Year's we will not be using the communication stones to contact our families back on Earth."
I could see that everyone wasn't happy with my decision. Hopefully they eventually realise and agree with why I've made this decision.
"What about those of us who missed out at Christmas?" someone yelled from the middle of the group.
"Yeah," was the response of several others.
"Let me finish, I have made this decision in hindsight of the events during Christmas. I realise now that the use of the stones over Christmas was a bad idea as many of us missed out on the opportunity to see our families. I believe the same thing would happen for New Year's that is why I've made the decision. That is all," I turned around but was stopped by another question.
"When will we get to see our families?" yelled someone from the back.
I turned back around, "You will all get to see your families all in due course." I walked back up the stairs and people began to leave the gateroom.
