Ellen paced back and forth as she thought about what she would say to Chris when he comes back. She heard the knob turn and immediately sat down. Chris and John entered the room with gloomy expressions on their faces, Chris looking as depressed as ever. Ellen was filled with jealousy as she studied her husband's face.
"She was nowhere to be found," John informed Ellen as Chris placed his head in his hands.
"She was here, a while ago," Ellen said casually. Chris' head snapped up. Ellen's eyes filled with tears threatening to fall. "Chris, I want to know, her or me?"
Chris hesitated. He knew in his heart that he loved Kim more but could he risk breaking Ellen's heart to be with Kim? Chris moved closer to Ellen.
"I'm sorry, but-" Ellen moved away and cut Chris off.
"Save it. Save it. Go to her, I should have known you'd pick her, being your first wife and all. Oh! And you have a child together! Joy!" Ellen exclaimed as the tears started to fall down her cheeks. "Go! Just go! I need time alone!"
Chris walks out angry at Ellen for not letting him explain. John consoles Ellen and explains everything, including Chris and Kim's past.
Chris wanders the street of Bangkok, not straying too far from the hotel incase anything happens. As he heads back to the hotel, he thinks about Kim and their son. He wanted to help them, love them and be a proper family but he couldn't without breaking Ellen's heart. He decided that he would tell Ellen gently and bring Kim and their son to the US. He came into the hotel room to see Ellen packing her things, calmly. He approached her and started to talk when Ellen cut him off.
"I want you to go back to her and take care of your responsibilities. Marry her and take her to the US."
Chris was bewildered. What had caused her change of heart?
"Chris, look at me." Chris looked at Ellen and saw her smile. "I know you still love her. And I'm sure that she loves you too. I won't stand in the way. Go for it." Ellen said as she pushed Chris out the door. The door slammed behind Chris and Chris smiled to himself.
"Thanks Ellen," he called out as he made his way out the hotel.
