This poem took a little while to build up. First one part would come and then I'd have to wait around a few weeks for the rest of it to come. I'm... very surprised at the results and how well it turned out. I saved it on my computer and it hid itself for several weeks before I found it while hunting for different story file. Originally I had all the lines spaced apart, but I thought I'd try and put them together for posting. I also took the opportunity to split it up into three "sections" to signify the changing tone of the poem. A certain famous (or is it infamous?) Seeker did help encourage this poem, but I don't know if it really matches him.

Please tell me what your reaction to this piece is, I'm very interested. Thanks for reading!

King of the Sky

Seeker, flying high
Once you were
King of the sky

Unmatched
In the ultimate dance
Nothing could match
Your Supremacy
Of air and wing
Elegance and speed

--

Where then, oh Sky King
Came the blow
That brought you low?

Too blinded in your pride
To see the signs
Of shattered wings,
Broken dreams.

--

The earth is desolate
With the sky out of reach
And the wind's call
Echos your heart's cry

But still, I see
Your head held high
The stars shining
In your eyes

Broken dreams may be
But your soul is unfettered
And one day, you know
You will return

A king from exile
To reclaim the dream
And be, once again

King of the Sky.
