Laxus POV
Laxus Dreyer knew the mission was doomed the second his eyes met hers. He and the Raijinshuu had been taking a uncharacteristically laid back S ranked mission to observe a S-class only guild, Kain, in Leaone, a small somewhat lawless country neighbouring the Fiore. All was going well, until he had gotten separated from the Raijinshuu and subsequently while searching for his team mates had stumbled upon both Kain's guild master and what appeared to be a very powerful and high ranking slave having an argument.
Laxus could tell she was dangerous, even if she was a mere slave. Her ruby eyes were practically feral as she carried out her master's orders to have him 'ended'. Laxus swiftly used his lightning to his advantage, grabbing hold of her and charging up the voltage just high enough to rival his output during the Fantasia fiasco. Expecting the girl to drop dead at his feet, he released her only to realise his attack had no real effect on the raven haired girl. His mind was instantly distracted by the possibilities. Was she perhaps a shield generating mage? Or maybe lightning attributed? There was no way she could be any stronger than him, not with those slave limiter bracelets designed to cripple one's magic so blatantly displayed on her slender wrists.
Laxus maxed out his attacks and marginally evaded her but with his lightning effectively being blocked out at every strike, it was obvious winning was going to be matter of hand to hand combat skills. While he may have outmatched the petite slave girl in brute strength, it was obvious that she was far more skilled in combat. The ease and fluidity of her movements could have easily have been that of a skilled dancer, aside from the obvious fact that she was surely going to kill him.
Yet Laxus, despite the nature of his situation, couldn't help admire her. She was an exquisite example of what a female S class mage should be. Relying very little on her own magical powers while keeping an air of serenity was so unlike that of the mighty Titania who could never hold back her emotions. She was in total control of herself and her actions, a beast far scarier than the long retired, yet formidable, Mira. Even her looks were amazing, not that Laxus would ever let such a thing distract him. He noted her curves and tanned legs with much appreciation while instinctively blocking a kick that would have cracked a rib or two, had it landed.
However, the pitch black hair messily tied up, multiple ear piercings and her fiery red eyes oddly made him think of a certain dragon slayer. Great. He was getting his ass beaten by the female doppelganger of Gajeel Redfox. Where the hell was the Raijinshuu? He silently cursed Freed in his mind. The rune mage was getting on his nerves lately.
"Do you wish to surrender? Sierra here will kill you if you don't boy."
Masters POV
The master gazed at Laxus, clearly amused at the dragon slayer's clear inability to dominate the fight. As far as he knew, Laxus had only just beaten Jura a few months ago. Surely there was more to Makorov's brat than this.
Although, the master contemplated, it was sad he had the misfortune of encountering Sienna, who had almost settled her debts to the guild. The girl was like a daughter to him. A true prodigy who would've held a high position in the guild if not for her circumstances. He hated that in Leaone she would always be a second class citizen. Defeating Laxus in the guilds name would surely free her now, but with her history, what could such freedom grant her? She would never be defeated by the Dreyer boy and that would be her demise.
The master wondered if Sienna would do one last mission for him. As Laxus fell, this time mortally wounded as Sienna had stopped toying with Makorov's brat and brought out her knife. The master ordered the attack to stop. After a moments silence, he spoke.
"Sienna, one last job. Deliver that to his grandfather. They have a solid script mage capable of removing your bracelets there. In exchange for his life, they will free you. Also never return to Leaone, or I shall have you executed. Your debts may be settled but your crimes are yet to be punished. "
The master turned his head and left leaving the shocked Sienna Redfox and wounded fairy behind. With a heavy heart he silently wished Sienna well, perhaps at Fairy Tail she would at least find her brother.
…
Sienna's POV
Sienna looked at Laxus Dreyer's unconscious form disdainfully. It had been two days since shed left Kain and Laxus had yet to wake. Transporting the unconscious dragon slayer was quite the hassle. It required her to use large masses of magical power just to hoist up his bulky form. With her slave bracelets it was very difficult to be constantly controlling her magical output. She had nearly dropped the blonde twice. He was way too bulky and frankly she was so tired. Sierra couldn't remember the last time she'd been this exhausted.
Setting up to stop for the night in a dense forest, Sierra let Laxus down, binding both his feet and hands with tiny, but strong, shields. Then she checked up on his wounds, it would be bad if he died on her before she got that script mage to remove her bracelets. She had barely touched him when she felt a surge of electricity stun her. Instinctively, Sierra tightened the shields on Laxus before falling to her knees. It was foolish of her to let her guard down around the dragon slayer.
Laxus's POV
As the beauty in front of him sunk to her knees, the intense pressure on his wrists and ankles increased exponentially. Laxus yelled in pain as he felt the bones in his wrist cracking. At his yell, the girl, who he now remembered to be called Sienna, gasped releasing the shields that bounded him. Laxus stared at her warily as she rose up looking absolutely pissed.
"Look what you've done you idiot. How do you expect me not to accidently kill you if you attack me?"
The girl – Sienna – was absolutely livid. Laxus, was confused. The mere fact that was she not trying to kill him somewhat terrified Laxus. That meant he was a prisoner, a slaves prisoner, and in a land like Leaonne that was a very dangerous position to be in. Especially if said slave could beat him, the lightning dragon slayer, to a bloody pulp.
''What do you want from me shield mage? Will you sell me?''
Laxus asked the question coldly already expecting the worst possible answer. However, seeing Sienna shift uncomfortably at his tone, he immediately regretted it. Clearly, by her expression the idea of her selling someone disgusted her.
"I do not wish to sell you. When I was bought, they sold me to a pleasure house. Luckily, I'm strong so a guild bought me before I could be trained. I'm taking you to your grandfather. In exchange they will free me as my debts will be cleared." She said it quietly, showing signs of fatigue for the first time, her fiery gaze met his and then dropping submissively, like a child that had been scolded for having fun. Laxus, was suddenly overwhelmed by the urge to hold her and apologise. It was a feeling that baffled him completely. Surely one should not feel sympathy for one's captor but how could he not? With that kind of upbringing it was surprising her powers had flourished as much as they had.
"And I want to meet my older brother. "
The words were so soft Laxus could've sworn he'd imagined them if it weren't for the fact that he had a dragons hearing. Immediately, he remembered his thoughts from the fight. There was no way she was related to anyone else. Not with eyes like that.
" Holy Mavis! Does Gajeel even know abo-"
He hadn't finish even finished his question when he felt the energy hurtling towards her. He knew at once, with his heightened senses, she would be hit before she could gather up her shields. She stumbled forward onto him as the blast hit her, ripping through the hastily formed barrier as if it were tissue. Steadying her despite the pain in his wrist, Laxus gazed at the figures he recognised to be Mira's Satan Soul, Cana Alberona and of course the Raijinshuu. Hearing Sienna whimper in his arm he looked at her, and this time truly saw that the girl had been mentally, physically and emotionally drained. Something she'd been careful not to let him see. It was no wonder she was taken down by a blast she could've easily blocked days ago. Her bracelets were limiting her.
Laxus felt his temper boil over at the master that had ordered her to deliver him to Foire. Slave bracelets were designed to incapacitate and kill runaway slaves. Sienna would've never managed the trip to Fairy Tail. Laxus began to panic and as his nakama neared them, Sienna's ruby eyes lost their spark as she fell into a magically induced slumber, her heartbeat dwindling as he held her.
Bickslows POV
The minute they closed in on Laxus, he sensed Laxus's souls panic and the alarmingly numbed soul of the woman in his arms. Putting the two together he realised they'd possibly attacked a comrade. He instantly ceased his wary approach and begun to sprint, surprising his nakama. Ignoring Ever's and Freed's warnings, he started racing towards Laxus through the dense forest he yelled.
"Shock her now you idiot. Her hearts failing. Can't you see?"
"SHOCK HER! SHOCK HER! SHOCK HER! SHOCK HER!" Echoed his babies as they trailed after his running form.
He was relieved to see Laxus immediately do as told. As he somewhat sensed the girls heartbeat returning to a normal state he reached them and immediately began to check their souls for damages and cringed as he saw the girls soul. She was definitely not in a good state. This wasn't from their attack. What on Earthland could've happened to cause such damage? The last time he'd seen a soul this warped was, truth be told, Laxus at fantasia and to be honest that was due to years of trying to tame the lacarima that granted Laxus his Dragon slayer powers.
There was something in Laxus's face that instinctively made Bickslow realise how important she was going to be. Despite Laxus's injuries, he attempted to lift the girl up and once he succeeded, he carried her walking with a grim expression. Meeting Freed and Mira, he ordered them to immediately take the girl to Makorov. They too, sensing the situation quickly transformed, and flew off with her while Cana gave Laxus first aid and alcohol. Ever looked at Bikslow questioningly but understood to leave it be for now. No one dared speak, for even a blind man could see Laxus Dreyer wasn't in the mood to talk about it but Bickslow didn't need words to see that Laxus Dreyer was a man worried to the point of barely contained panic.
