I was bored today so I wrote my very first Tokka onesoht. I own nothing.
He knew something was wrong. She was unusually quiet today. That either meant she was planning something or she was upset. But Sokka knew her mind was racing with ideas to disrupt a little Aang and Katara mushy moment or make very annoying small talk with Zuko or Mai by following them around and asking the dumbest questions.
No, Toph was in a bad mood. A very bad mood. She was fuming on the bench in the garden behind their apartment. Her lips were pursed, eyes narrowed, and her eyebrows could've connected had they gone any closer together in fury.
The Water Tribe warrior approached her cautiously, not wanting to be shot from here to the lower ring, as she had done with Zuko who had asked her simply, "What's up your-?" Unfortunately, he never got to finish his sentence. Aang soon had to go get him when they received the intelligence he was now in the lower ring hospital.
"Toph?" Sokka asked, nervously.
She grunted moodily, turning her head away from him.
"Is something wrong?" he said, sitting next to her.
"No!" she said forcefully.
Sokka smiled plainly. Her attitude was always like this when Suki was around. The Kyoshi Warrior was visiting from her home and Toph never got along too well with her. Especially when Sokka was in the room.
Toph knew well that they broke up last year when they had argued about Sokka not going to Kyoshi Island with her. But the Earthbender felt as if they were to be back together and then glue themselves together by the lips.
"Is it because of Suki?" Sokka asked.
"No!" Toph said, a growl rolling in her throat.
Sokka grinned now. Toph was jealous and wanted nothing to do with Suki. Even the mere topic of the Warrior made her swear under her breath.
"I think you're lying," Sokka said.
"I think you better leave before I kick your butt!" Toph snarled, jumping to her dirty feet and getting into a fighting stance.
Sokka simply looked at her, his goofy grin never faltering.
"I know you're jealous," he said.
"I am not!" Toph yelled at him, a blush betraying her words and flaring up to her cheeks.
"Whatever you want to believe," Sokka said, stretching.
Toph glared at him. "What's it to you?"
"Ah, nothing. I wanted, however, to ask you something personal," he shrugged, thinking how to toy with her mind.
"What?" she asked, a hint of interest tinting her voice.
"What do tough girls, like you, enjoy from a guy like me?"
Toph was taken aback from this very random, yet very Sokka, question. She blinked.
"Why?" she asked.
He shrugged again, pursing his lips. "Just wondering. A girl I like is a lot like you."
"Um… Well, I like your jokes when I can make fun of them. I love it when you annoy your sister when I'm not in the mood to. I like how you sometimes give me space when I ask for it. I love fighting playfully with you," she said, crossing her arms. She suddenly blushed. "Just off the top of my head. Ya know, for example," she said rather quickly.
"Uh- huh," Sokka said, feeling a blush creep up on him. His voice was calm, interested, and full of flattery.
"Who is this girl?" she asked quietly, feeling a little hurt he would ask. Especially when he knew well she loathed the idea of him with Suki or any other sorry girl that enters Sokka's heart.
"Just someone who thinks she's invisible," Sokka said. "Who thinks she's not pretty enough, smart enough. You know, the usual."
"She is a lot like me," Toph said thoughtfully.
"Yeah," Sokka said, standing up and facing her little figure. "You know what's so great?"
"What?" Toph asked him, her bad mood washed away.
"It's you," he said and kissed her.
I know, corny as heck. But, this is what happens when I'm bored and have nothing else to do! ATHPluver is outy 5000.
