« A Matter of Time »
So, hello, everybody. It's my first fiction, so be keen, alright ?
Disclaimer : I do not own Tales of Symphonia. Otherwise, Mithos's dream would have become reality…
Spoiler Alert : It's Mithos's POV at the end of the game, so there will logically be spoilers. As my Cruxis Crystal shattered, I smiled. It wasn't a cruel grin, but rather a tender smile, the comforting yet ironic smile of a father in front of his son. My last look was for Lloyd. He was such an idealist ! Thinking that killing me would change anything. What if he destroyed all existing Expheres ? Would it stop discrimination ? Lloyd didn't understand anything. I remember the time when I was like him. I thought that by stopping the Kharlan War, discrimination would end. It worsened ! And I became a Hero. I lost my sister in the fight, but all they remembered was about the Hero Mithos. It's ridiculous ! All I did as a saviour made me lose all I cared for… My sister… My dreams… It all vanished. Only glory, useless glory, remained.
Lloyd… doesn't understand… yet. Soon he will be known as a hero, and all I did would be in vain. Soon, my Exspheres would be destroyed… and with them, the Age of Lifeless Beings. Soon, he will have glory. And it will be the very beginning of his end.
Because of my failure, hate for Half-Elves will worsen again… They will be even more persecuted. At the same time, Lloyd's friends will betray him, one after another, until he is all alone… Then, only then, he will understand the futility of his actions… And then, once again, he would rise again discrimination… just to finally understand that it cannot be stopped with speeches and prayers. He would finally do something for his ideals. He would end what I once began.
Lloyd… It is just a matter of time… We both followed the same path… We had the same ideals… The same goal. You just needed your last lesson. Since I won't be here to give it to you, recieve it from the hand of Fate… As I did a long ago…
Lloyd… It is just a matter of time… You will be like me… As I vanish, as I surrender to nothingness, I watch you…
And I laugh of your ephemery innocence…
Ending Comments : So, how was it ? Liked it ? Hate it ? Review, please…
