A/N: For the Dicing Up Poetry Challenge on The Poetry Craze, using the poem: Autumn Leaves, by Heather Burns.
Golden Bloodlines
1. The leaves of autumn
The times were changing, growing dull
as though the world was moving away
from a fresh green,
Sleeping back into the grave colours:
yellow and brown
and blood drying out in the soil –
They needed to bring their golden time
back, not the autumn leaves parting for new shoots
instead of those evergreens dying out
or thinning, growing soft.
