A/N: This will be a collection of more structured poetry, unlike my usual freeverse. Things like sonnets, ballades, and whatever else I decide to try out.

For the All those Different Colours Challenge on the Poetry Craze, red positive, and for the Writing Poetry in Form Challenge. This time it's a sonnet using the ababcdcdefefgg structure with 10 syllables per line.

1. The Aurors of the First Wizarding War

Within a war, you could go down mighty
and still be forgotten in the left ash
as the victory curtains raise brightly
to cover shadowed smoke and blood and bash.
The heroes which fought on until the end
are remembered with praise and glory lit
but to those whose life ties could not be mend:
in the history books, their names don't fit.
They are the forgotten heroes of war
those larger numbers who died without pause,
trying to do their job and nothing more –
they'd long devoted themselves to the cause.
For now though, they were just numbers forgotten
under corpses left to become rotten.
