Comments: Spoilers episode 3x01. Just a little unbeta'd scene. Hope you like it.
Guinevere stood at the servant's entrance and watched Morgana body rise and fall with each sleeping breath. Morgana had returned and Gwen knew she should feel pure joy...but when Morgana had first looked at her, she had an uneasy feeling wash over her and now it bubbled away in her stomach and nothing seemed to settle it...
Her worried thoughts then seemed to suddenly ease as a comforting feeling washed over her...Arthur was near, she didn't need to turn to confirm it, he was the only man that had this affect on her and she had missed that feeling in his long months of absence.
Arthur stood behind Guinevere and looked over her shoulder at Morgana and sighed "I began to lose faith in finding her" he hated to admit it, but the last year had been long and the battles bloody...there were many nights when he thought to give up, that he would never see his sister again...
"I never lost faith...in you" Gwen's spoke softly.
"I know" Arthur moved closer, his body almost touching hers...so much so that she could feel his heart beating against her "it's what keeps me going"
Gwen closed her eyes and she could imagine his arms wrapped around her "I am glad you are safe"
"And I you" Arthur's breath tickled her neck causing a pleasant shiver to course through her body. She wished she could turn around and pull him into a passionate embrace, but that would have to remain in her imagination. They could not do that, not here.
Arthur sighed, he wanted to kiss her...in fact that thought had occupied his mind and helped him find sleep the last few months...but now was not the time or the place, his father wanted to see him and any moment someone could come past.
Arthur's hand reached up to touch a curl resting on her shoulder, but he put his hand back down before he did "I should go". It felt so easy to be near Guinevere and when he was every fibre of his being yearned to touch her...but he could not, so he stepped away.
"Goodnight Arthur" but as she turned he had already left, Gwen sighed they would have a moment together another time and that's all she seemed to live for, moments basking in the golden sun when all other days were filled with clouds.
