It was a little over an hour since Dan and Serena's wedding. But the reception was still going on. Everyone was up with each other. Seemed like all was well. Except for Nate. And Blair noticed. He was just sitting all alone-drinking. She went over to Chuck who was chatting with Cyrus. "Sorry to interrupt ," she said. As usual Cyrus was very understanding and just smiled. Chuck turned to her and whispered, " What's wrong, Blair?" She answered, " Look at Nate. He's all by himself. Oh and Monkey. But still." Chuck immediately followed Blair's order and walked to Nate. Blair was so grateful for Chuck. He's the best. Meanwhile Lily and Rufus were speaking. Only it was like they were in competition or something. She kept cuddling with William and Rufus was constantly touching Lisa. But their partners were clueless. Serena and Dan were having their own conversation. They looked so happy together. And Georgina was with Jenny-talking about god knows what. Jack and Cyrus were reading the newspaper together. They must've been fascinated by the "Ivy League" story. Henry was playing with Eleanor off to the side with all his toys. Eric had left to go meet up with Jonathon for his 25th birthday but they would be back later. Dorota and Vanya were giggling in the kitchen. Blair just watched it all. She liked that. Anyway, Chuck had casually sat down next to Nate and asked, " Can I get you anything?" Nate shook his head. Blair and Chuck knew ahead of time that this day would be kind of hard for Nate. Although it would be completely wrong if they didn't invite him. Plus, they felt he needed some time away from the office. All that mayor stuff was putting a lot of pressure on him. And tasking up all his time. But this wasn't making matters better. Perhaps worse in fact. Then Chuck said, " You could use a drink I see." Nate laughed. " I guess so." "I'll be right back," Chuck told him. Blair asked if Nate had said anything and Chuck explained what happened. "That's it?!" she cried. She really felt bad. Chuck just kissed his wife's cheek and walked back. "Here you go." said Chuck. "Thanks, " Nate replied. "Sure," Chuck responded. "Okay this is awkward, " they both were thinking. As an ice breaker (and totally not thinking) Chuck asked Nate, " Are you having fun?" That was the worst thing to say! He wouldn't tell Blair he said that. She'd be furious. Nate remained silent, hesitating to answer. Before he could say something though Chuck interrupted saying, " Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out that way,". Nate blushed. "I know. No worries, man." And that was that. For the next ten minutes while everybody else was busy talking those two just sat there-not saying a word. It was bad.
