Harvest Moon 64: The Lonely Librarian

Chapter One: When Eyes Meet.

She was sixteen, an only child, and the daughter of the mayor of Flower Bud village. She had black shiny hair that was neat, straight, and kept in a braided ponytail. She usually wore her blue dress and white blouse. She led a simple life, a life of books, writing, and dreaming. She dreamed of finding that one person she would be with for the rest of her life. She had only read it in books about princes rescuing damsels, or people overcoming odds for that person, but never experienced actual true love. None of the boys in town paid attention to her, either because of plain style, that she was the church girl, or her shyness, but she still had hope of finding that one person. There was a person once in her life that she felt a connection to. It was years ago when a boy from the city visited his grandfathers farm where the two played together everyday on the farm until the day he had to leave, and to this day she still missed that boy, and hoped that one day he would return.

It was a sunny spring day in Flower Bud, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Maria was quietly reading in the Library she took care of beside her family's home like she always did everyday. There came a knock on the door. The door opened and in the doorway stood her father. "Maria, there's a new boy in town taking over an old friend of mine's farm, I'd like you to meet him. Maria nodded and walked outside with him. "Maria this is Jack". Because she was so shy she didn't bother to even look up. "Say hello Maria". Maria looked up and starred at him. "Its him! The boy from all those years ago is back" she thought in her head. "H..hello" She was ecstatic to see him again, but still shown her shyness towards boys. "Hi its nice to meet you". Jack still looked the same to her, his brown hair under a blue cap, his blue overalls, and black boots. She thought he was handsome, kind, and the right person for her. "Jack lets get moving I still have to show you the rest of the town". Jack nodded and they walked off.

Maria's heart furiously pounded in her chest, her cheeks glowed red, and her knees felt weak. "He's back, I never thought this would happen" she said to herself as she walked back into the library. She sat down at her front desk and began to read the book she was reading before. No matter how much she tried she couldn't get him out of her head, so she finally decided, "I'm going to welcome him". Maria closed her book and walked out of the Library when suddenly she hit into someone. "oh sorry about that, here let me help you up". Maria opened her eyes, and saw Jack reaching down for her.
