The Director

In the band you have to have a strong leader. This leader is usually your band director. In a marching band though I believe that the band director has to be even stronger than in just a concert band. I believe this because he has to go threw many more challenges and struggles threw the season. He gives up his nights and time to practice with us on the field to make us a better marching band. One of the hardest things for a band to do though is accept a new director which is what our band had to do this year. We had a great director for four years his name was Mr. Simpson. He taught us not only about band but also about life. He was a great teacher he new one some one was playing a wrong note he had the ears of a bat. He was also greatly respected but it was not only for what he could teach us because some people didn't respect that. He was respected threw fear. Most of the people in the band were afraid of him. The only way he could get us to do what we need to was threw fear. I am glad he did this because it made our marching band much stronger and we grew together as a family. We cam out in all our competitions that year with striate superiors in all categories and we came out with 2nd place in most competitions and we lost 1st by 1 10th of a point. Then at the end of that year he told us that he was leaving. He wanted to go back to collage to get a degree in something else he told us that he wanted to teach collage band. So he promised us that he would find a director worthy of our band and he interviewed lots of people. He said he finally found one his name was Mr. Henderson. I am glad that he picked this man I liked him right when I first meet him. Of course the band was a little weary at first we were worried that he would take all our traditions way and change everything that we do. Mr. Simpson promised that he would find someone that would not do that and he did. Mr. Henderson turned out to be a great director our band welcomed him right into our family and we love him. He also teaches us not only about band bout about life to. He is great because he loves to be festive in the holidays and he treats us all as equally and he did not earn his respect threw fear he earned his respect threw the ways of his teaching and involving everyone in the band. He earned what he is today by putting him self out there and letting our band accept the new change and addition to our family. We hope he stay and never wants to leave because now this is his new home and we welcome him to stay as long as he likes.
