Hey guys! So this is the first of my series of headcannons or mini short stories. I have tons of these so I hope you enjoy them! If you have a request for one, don't mind asking! Hope you enjoy :)
The adults stared at the empty doorway, then ignored it as the "wind" closed the door back. Magnus stepped inside first, getting a conversation started with one of the women who worked at the orphanage. Meanwhile, Alec gazed upon all of the children, none of which noticed him. He decided to not put on the Sight rune, curious to see if any one of them could see him. He wanted his child to see their father.
Magnus eyed Alec constantly as he spoke with a worker. The children screamed and played in the room, running passed him as though he weren't even there. Even wearing just a slight smile, none of the kids could see Alec. They were all just mundanes.
His heart sank, seeing none of them look at him. Sighing deeply, Alec gave a look to Magnus, sending a message that there was no hope here. As he went to open the door slowly, he looked at them children one last time when he noticed it. Two eyes stared directly into his, right at him. Alec turned around to see if there was anyone behind him, but there was no one. His head snapped back to the little boy, the child slowly making his way to Alec. He could feel Magnus' eyes on him. Crouching down, a smile appeared on his face.
"Hi." Alec said, crouching to reach eye level with him. The boy's light hazel eyes searched Alec's face, the color so light, it almost seemed yellow like Magnus'. A messy mop of straight black hair fell over the boy's face. Other children carelessly bumped into the boy.
"Are you lonely here?" Alec asked, raising an eyebrow. The boy nodded in response.
"Well, my husband and I have been looking to have a family. But we're missing someone." Tilting his head, he moved the hair away from the boy's face. His features are structured very much like Max's, making his smile grow a bit more.
"Would you like to have a family?" At that moment, the boy's eyes brightened like fireworks in July. The boy's smile seemed like one you would only see on a child on Christmas, but he was offered a gift that he could only imagine.
Looking up at Magnus from the other side of the room, it was indescribable how happy he looked as he gazed at the boy. Magnus began gesturing to the boy in front of Alec to the lady. She smiled in return, coming towards the child. As she took his hand, the boy looked back at Alec with a look of pure joy.
How can life grant us such beautiful things?
