Breathing
Everything was so strange. Everywhere was so confusing – alien. Her surrounding felt heavy and even if she knew that things looked the same, they didn't.
Once they were in an underwater hideout of Titans East, Raven and Starfire stealing glances at that fish guy, and now she was being chased by something she couldn't see…along with mentioned fish guy.
"This way," he said and Terra followed the blue suit in the distance as he lead the way through the ocean.
She wasn't very fond of it and she had definitely preferred to stay on dry land along with the others…but since Beast Boy had previously been attacked by the same thing that chased her, he was knocked out cold.
Maybe that's why she accepted to go with Mr. Pretty Boy here – to get…revenge?
She would have laughed if she could but too bad she had to hold her breath.
Suddenly a yellow beam shot in front of her and she saw metal pillars falling towards her and she closed her eyes for the impact with the oil plant.
Suddenly a shadow spread over her and she saw that a whale opened his mouth and swallowed her whole…and somehow she found that cool.
After a few moments in darkness, the mouth opened again and she floated outside, coming up at a brick wall.
She gave the fish-like man a questioning look.
"Use your powers to split the wall," he replied using telepathy and Terra obliged, her yellow hands easily splitting the wall in half.
And she was surprised to see dry land on the other side. They swam towards the cave and Terra finally got some air into her lungs as she panted on the rocky ground.
"So why are we here again?" she asked after managing to sit up.
"It's Trident."
"Sounds like a toothpaste brand to me," Terra chuckled and the raven-haired boy gave her a questioning look. "Sorry you can't take a joke," she said with a hint of annoyance, wondering what Starfire and Raven saw in that boy.
"How good are you with rocks?" he asked suddenly and she looked up at him.
"Didn't I just show you?"
"No, I mean how good are you at controlling them?" he asked and she lowered her gaze.
"You don't want to know," she mumbled and concern crossed his face.
"I didn't mean-"
"You got your answer," she said annoyed and cut him off.
Suddenly the cave rumbled and the ceiling began lowering when suddenly boulders began dropping.
"Watch out!"
Terra looked up when suddenly she tumbled backwards as something slammed against her.
Her hand glowed yellow and shot out to the raven-haired boy in an instant.
Suddenly a boulder floated above him that was about to crush him and somehow she felt pride spreading inside of her, seeing his surprised expression.
"No, this answered my question," he murmured and Terra looked at him in surprise before flinging the boulder away as the rumbling suddenly ceased. "Your reflexes…are excellent. With someone like Trident I need someone that is quick. Congratulations, Terra," he said and smiled for the first time.
She avoided eye-contact, suddenly feeling…happy. He was right! She didn't even need to think to make the boulder stop – it…just happened.
It was unconscious – like breathing.
Another rumble shook the cave, cracks forming on the walls.
"Aqualad?" she asked.
He turned to her with confusion, not able to make out if she was sad or angry.
"Thanks," she smiled before standing up.
"I think that's my line," he said with a smirk.
"Why do you think so?" she replied and her hands regained their yellow glow.
A whale swam up to the surface, blowing water out of his blow hole before opening his mouth.
"Because you still try to get back at Trident, right?"
Terra smirked at him – she started to like him. "How did you know?"
