Returning home was never easy. Even though you do miss your family, it would be… different. People change, events happen, and you aren't there to see it. People die, babies are born, and you miss it all. It was going to be very different when she returns home, meeting everyone again. The children will have grown up, the adults would have aged. The elderly might have died, and maybe newborns will have joined her family. She had missed her home so much, yet she didn't really miss it at all. After all, it has been three years. It would be a lot to say, all the events that happened through these long years, and all the people involved. How she had mastered waterbending, how Sokka had started out as the warrior of the Southern Water Tribe, to being the leader of many different armies, earth kingdom and water tribe.
There was Toph, Zuko, and Iroh. She would have to explain who Iroh and Toph were, since the people had never seen them before. It would be easier though, since all of them were here. Accepting Zuko as a guest was going to be awkward, bringing in the very person who had threatened to destroy their home three years ago, now a newly changed young adult. But it could be done.
And there was Aang, and how he had mastered all four elements: water, earth, fire, and wind. He had changed a lot through these years, from a carefree child to a strong, serious, developing young man. Something had hardened inside him through the last two years, but he still had his sense of humor, which always made her laugh. It was going to be hard to explain, the various Avatar States, the pain and suffering he had to go through, and the fun he had. She would have to tell them how Aang had became the person he is today: strong, mature, and yet he always made Katara smile.
She would also have to tell them how she had fallen in love with him, and how their relationship had gone from stranger, travel companion, friend, best friend, family, and finally, to the person she loved.
It was going to be a long day.
