Joey Tribbiani wasn't sure what woke him up that night, it was 2am Friday night and he found himself waking up almost instinctivly. He rolled out of bed wearing not much, some boxer shorts and T-shirt which was a little too small for him (which he apparently liked because "It felt like a cuddle") and realized he could hear somebody walking around in the apartment, even though Chandler was supposed to be sleeping round Monicas that night.
Peering into the Kitchen / Living room he saw could vaguely see his best friend walking around glumy, only illuminated by a small amount of moonlight coming in through the window.
"Chandler?" He called.
No response, Joey turned the light on and saw Chandler sat on the couch with his hands over his eyes.
"Chandler?" He repeated "What are you... are you okay?"
Chandler sniffed and looked up, he didn't give any verbal response but instead shook his head and shrugged at the same time.
Joey immediatley went up to his best friend and kneeled in front of him.
"What happened?" He asked with a very serious expression.
Again, no response.
"Hey" he said grabbing Chandles arm "It's me. What's going on?"
Chandler looked at the floor with his red eyes and started to mumble.
"Monica left me"
"What?!" Joey was shocked "Why?! Wh-what happened?!"
Speaking before thinking as usual, Chandler shot him a frowning look, like he should be the one trying to calm him down.
"S-sorry" Joey apologized "But... what..."
As he was speaking he realized it didn't matter, whatever the reason, they had slip and chandler was heartbroken.
Forgetting his lack of clothes he climbed onto the couch with chandler and gave him a big hug from the side.
"I'm so, so sorry man" Joey whispered.
Chandler took a deep breath as his tears fell and started to speak.
"She'd been cheating on me Joe... with Richard..." he mumbled.
"... that bastard" Joey said.
Joey just hugged him tighter, unconciously puting his own head on Chandlers shoulder, though Chandler was still just looking at the floor.
"... I don't... I... s-she um... she er..." Chandler was having trouble communicating.
"Shhhh" Joey whispered into his ear "It's okay..."
Chandler let out a few more tears and then closed his eyes, bobbing his head in Joey's direction so they were now pressed against each other. Joey just looked at his best friends face, it looked like the face of a man who was exhausted from pain and just wanted to escape, but it also looked like the face of someone that he wanted to protect more than anything.
After some amount of time (which is hard to count when you're cuddling somebody) Chandler slowly opened his tearful eyes, looking Joey in the face. For a few seconds they just studied each others faces, it was a non-verbal expression of love.
Without even thinking about it Joey moved his face closer, faintly brushing their noses against each other and as they both closed their eyes, he gave him a slow and tender kiss on the lips.
Suddenly realizing what was happening Chandler jerked away and gasped, jumping away from the couch.
"What the heck was that?!" he shouted "What did you just do?!"
Joey just looked with a mixture of confusion and sadness.
"I don't know... I'm sorry I..." Joey tried to explain but, realizing he couldn't, he just averted his eyes to the corner.
Chandler shook his head and walked into his room.
"I'm sorry!" Joey shouted as Chandler slammed the door
Joey touched his own lips, feeling the slight wetness, they still felt like they were tingling. He loved Chandler, he knew that, but that doesn't mean they're... y'no, does it?
