A/N: here's a little ficlet. It's based off of the kiss from the promo so I guess it is a little spoilerish. This is basically just my take on could happen before and after the kiss. Thanks to hay for being my beta!!

Disclaimer: I do not own BSG if I did Lee and Kara would have been together from the start. But Ron moore owns them so that leaves us fanfic writers to fix his mistakes. lol

Lee walked into his former quarters, expecting them to be empty but instead found Kara Thrace lying on the bed asleep. Something that he had heard from Helo that she hadn't been doing since they found Earth or at the least the wasteland Earth had became. He laid his duffel by the closet and walked over to the bed. He sat down beside her and pushed her hair out of her face. She looked so peaceful something he knew she hadn't been since before Zak's death. It had been Four weeks since they had landed on Earth and most of that time Kara had been on the planet. He knew that she blamed herself for what the fleet had been led too. And he knew that she was still wrestling with how and why she had came back. He kissed her on the forehead and watched her as she slowly woke up.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be doing something like leading what's left of humanity to a bright and shiny future." She asked as she sat up.

"I'm taking a break." He said with a smirk.

"It's the end of the world, we're not allowed breaks remember?" She said as she stood and walked over to the locker-like closet. He watched as she changed into her BDUS.

"Where are you going? I looked at the log and it said you still have at least two hours off."

"I'm going to catch a raptor back to the planet."

"Kara, you've been on the planet since we landed. What is so damn special about it!?"

"I want answers."

"Then let me go with you. I don't have a meeting for at least five hours."

"These are answers I need to find on my own."

"Is that the only way you know how to do things, Kara?! On your own."

"It's the only choice I have." She said as she moved to grab her boots but he grabbed her arm before she could go any further.

"You don't have to be on your own anymore." He said looking into her eyes and for the first time ever he saw fear.

"Yes I do." She said as she pulled her arm out of his grasp and turned to put her boots on.

"Damn it Kara I thought we were past this, I thought that when we started anew that you weren't going to pull this shit!!" Her grabbing him and kissing him cut him off. He was surprised at first but then gave in as weeks of longing and passion took over. Then just has he was going to suggest they go back to the bed, Kara pulled away.

"I love you Lee, I'm not hiding from that anymore. But I have to do this on my own, I have to find out why this happened." She said as she moved toward the door.

"Kara ---- Just be careful, okay? I can't lose you again."

"I'm coming back, how could I not. Lee Adama loves me." And with a short laugh she was gone. He walked to the hatch and watched her till she turned the corner. Maybe this was their fresh start.
