A/N: I really like how this turned out. I'm super proud this. Strictly one-shot. I'm going to do a story that may be considered a sequel though. Enjoy!
Fourteen eyes were fixed on the sky, where splashes of color and light danced.
Seventy fingers entwined, palms met with palms as they held hands and remained silent.
Seven people stood together, unmoving, absorbing the moment.
Above them fireworks burst, leaving impressions that showed when they blinked.
The Ouran High School Host Club was calm for once, none wanting the ball to end and take the thing they held dear.
When the explosions stopped, the year would be over.
Oblivious to the squealing nearby at the sight of the group so close, they continued that way until suddenly it was quiet.
Around them cheering erupted and echoed in the night sky.
Fourteen eyes looked to those that were closest to them. Two red-headed twins tried to assess the other without being noticed. A small blond looked up at his tall companion sadly. The eccentric king and his reluctant queen met eyes briefly, and then looked away.
Two brown eyes did not move at all. They stared at the spot where the last of the light had disappeared. Two brown eyes filled to the brim.
The one to break the silence was who everyone expected would.
"Haruhi?" Tamaki's concerned voice sounded abnormally loud as he suddenly blurted her name.
The girl did not respond.
"Haru-chan, what's wrong?" Honey asked.
She still watched the sky, not blinking for fear of letting her tears fall.
Suddenly she was enveloped in hugs. Everyone found their way in, even Kyoya. The giant group watched as Haruhi's head fell and her eyes overflowed.
"Haru-chan, why are you crying?" Honey's sweet voice was quiet and calm. He weaved his arms through the hug to pass her Usa-chan.
"I don't want it to end." Her voice could barely be heard.
"It's not ending my darling daughter," Tamaki said.
"It's not going to be the same without all of us here."
No one could object to that.
"We'll come visit!" Honey cried.
"Mm," Mori agreed.
"I know," Haruhi sighed. "I just.."
There was a pause.
"You just what?" Hikaru and Kaoru asked in unison.
"I've had so much fun this year, and you guys have become like my family. I love everything about you guys," Haruhi choked out, rubbing at her eyes. "Look I'm okay. No worries."
The guys all backed up a bit.
"I'm glad that I got to spend today with all of you," Haruhi said, and six heads nodded in agreement.
Seven people were silent that night.
