A/N: Okay, guys! This is chapter one's rewrite! This version is longer and much better written (in my opinion). And, with this version, you won't have to deal with a huge shift in style and quality when I continue it! (Yes, I am going to continue this.) I would really appreciate if you guys would give me some feedback though. It really motivates me to write more, and my writing really sucks if I feel like no one really cares about it (Go ahead and ask my 8th grade social studies teacher. He'll tell you.). This is entirely for you guys, and I'm glad I'm starting to write again. If you want, you can check out my other stories, but I can't really promise that they'll be any good. I might do other stories as well, but this will be my main one. Love you guys! OH! And it's okay to let me know about any mistakes. Now, onward to reading!

They had lost the game, again. It wasn't really a surprise, though. The entire team had false hopes of winning, but they knew that they would just lose their last game of the season- they always lose. In fact, they hadn't won a single game for three years, ever since Mr. Grandpa's Boy joined the team as the pitcher.

'Argh! We always get beaten so badly by the other team!' Hatake thought to himself, furious they had lost yet another baseball game. 'And it's all his fault; it's always his fault! There's no way he's a real ace- his grandfather got him that spot! There's no way I'm catching for this loser in high school, and I know exactly how I'm going to avoid it!' In a fit of rage, Hatake stormed off to find Mihashi.

"Hey, Mihashi. Come here for a minute," Hatake said smoothly.

Mihashi was surprised (and a bit confused) at Hatake's calm tone. He didn't seem upset, which was really off, considering Hatake was angry with Mihashi 99.99% of the time. Either way, Mihashi followed, if only out of fear of what Hatake might do to him if he didn't. Mihashi, although he tried his best not to, trembled visibly as he walked.

And here Hatake was, still in his gear, leading Mihashi away from the rest of the team, and into the empty showers.

Alone.

Hatake began, "Finally, the chance I've waited for- the chance for revenge!" Mihashi trembled as Hatake spoke, his voice drenched in malice. "I told you to step down from the mound. This is what happens when you don't listen to me!"

With that, the hostile catcher immediately swung his bat tot he side of Mihashi, and a sickening crack filled the air, originating from Mihashi's left arm.

"Perfect! Now Kanou can finally pitch! In fact, he can be our ace! But still, this really doesn't seem like enough. Honestly, Mihashi, no team should ever have to deal with a pitcher as slow as you!"

The beating went on for what seemed like hours to Mihashi, although it had only been about 30 minutes. He screamed in agony with each strike, wishing it would just end, that Hatake would just leave him alone. And then, after what seemed like an eternity, the hits just stopped coming.

His body was black, blue, and red, covered in bruises and blood resulting from the unforgiving strikes of Hatake's bat. Even the weapon of assault itself was taking on a red tinge from Mihashi's blood.

"N-no! P-please! J-just p-please don't h-hit m-me anym-more! P-please!" Mihashi finally stuttered after a period of silence. However, the ruthless catcher only laughed.

"you know what, Mihashi? Okay. I won't hit you anymore. In fact, I'll even make you life a little easier. I know that you're not happy in baseball. So, I'll just rid you of your problems- I will take baseball away from you!"

Hatake then took out a vial containing an acidic green liquid. "This is for Kanou!" he proclaimed as he tipped the vial, spilling the liquid into Mihashi's eyes.

'What's taking those two so long?' Kanou thought, 'Everyone's ready to leave already. Maybe I should go check on them.'

Knowing Hatake's resentment towards Mihashi, Kanou decided to see if they were alright together; he certainly didn't want to deal with a fight between the two. And besides, he knew Mihashi couldn't win.

Kanou walked into the showers, eyes widening when he saw Mihashi on the floor, clutching his eyes and screaming in agony while Hatake stood over him, smirking with an empty vial.

"Hatake, what did you do to him!?" Kanou yelled. Hatake just stood there, slowly realizing what he had just done to Mihashi, and starting to feel remorseful.

The entire team, having heard Kanou yell, was suddenly in the showers, trying to help Mihashi. Two of the players were filling containers with cold water while Kanou was trying his best to comfort Mihashi. One other called 9-1-1.

"It's going to be alright, Mihashi," Kanou struggled to keep his voice calm and soothing, "The ambulance will be here soon, just try to calm down. Take deep breaths... yeah, that's the way. Keep it up. Don't worry; this will all be over soon." He wasn't sure about that. He didn't know what was in that vial, but it really seemed to be taking its toll on Mihashi's eyes. In fact, the color in them seemed to be faded a little. But maybe that was just because Mihashi had just been bludgeoned with a baseball bat.

Kanou looked down at the rest of Mihashi's body. He really was in bad shape. In fact, his left arm seemed a little... bent.

"Okay, we're here! Everyone, give him some room!" The paramedics had finally arrived, and were starting to secure Mihashi on the stretcher.

As they were wheeling him out of the showers, Mihashi whispered to Kanou, "K-Kanou. P-please, c-come w-with me."

And Kanou followed Mihashi into the ambulance, and they rode to the hospital.

Together.
