Title means, "Because I love you." InuKag short one-shot. Inspired by ep. 48... Kagome knows that she loves InuYasha, but can't have him, but decides since she can't fill the void in his heart, she'll still always be there for him. REVIEW!

I wrote this when I couldn't sleep at night… Darn my insomnia!

This is written in first person by Kagome, and the "you" she refers to is InuYasha.

I lie awake at night, helplessly, unable to fall asleep, because all I am able to do is think of you. Restlessly, I remember the times when you stayed by my side and protected me.

I wanted to be yours, and you were the only one whom I held so dearly in my heart, but you already had someone else.

She isn't quite like me, and I am not quite like her. You two shared a love a long time ago, though it is more complicated now. You won't forget her, and now there is a void in your heart, an empty space which I am unable to fill.

I look into your eyes under the starry sky and wish that maybe one day, you'll feel the same way about me as I feel for you. But, since I cannot have you, I smile to myself weakly, a silent tear rolling down my cheek, and I promise you and myself that I will always be there for you, that is… only if you'll allow me to stay by your side.

Dakara anta ni aishiteru. [Because I love you.]

I know that was really short! Well, it was inspired, I suppose, by episode 48, "Back to the Place We First Met."
