This drabble should NOT be viewed as a pairing bashing. Its intention is to share a small unrequited prompt that was heavily inspired by Snazzy Elle's Unrequited.

Prompt: Unrequited - Inspired by the story mentioned above.

He was alone in his thoughts, brooding while lying down on the couch. Letting out a sigh, Apollo closed his eyelids and fell deeper on his mind.

His heart had fallen to a certain ginger-head named Athena Cykes after she was cleared of the accusations of murder. After a few weeks, he mended their friendship and they were back to normal, she, always initiating a competition or a bet, and he, agreed because he had no choice. Who knew those simple interactions could change what you see in that person? Who knew that talking to the same person over and over again would make love bloom?

Alas, he did, loved her more than a best friend.

Her rash and upbeat nature brought sunshine to his rainy mood, even by just a crack. Her random foreign languages thrown in her sentences always bring a smile on his face. Her orange hair always fill him with enthusiasm, even if the situation was too much for him to bear. Her pearly white smile never failed to spark and made him skip a beat. She was perfect for his eyes.

Apollo sighed and sat up, shaking his head as his lips turned into a frown.

He shouldn't had doubted her. He shouldn't had hurt her feelings. He should had believed in her, had faith in her. He should had did what Hugh had done for Juniper, and what Simon had done to Athena. No, he lack faith in people, even towards her. He should learn to believe in them, even if it just towards her and Trucy.

Apollo shook his head again, dispelling the negative thoughts in his head.

Trucy wouldn't like perceiving him like this. Athena wouldn't be too thrilled about hearing his cry of anguish. No, he was Apollo Justice and he would be fine. Getting worked up over the fact that he lost on a implicit battle against another man was not him, not at all. It would be just like his old days with Clay, them fighting over one girl and his best friend won, but they managed to patch up their friendship before it went down to peril.

Apollo stood up and walked to the window, glancing up at the clock to see it close to afternoon.

He may lost the battle of love, but he won the battle of friendship. He had made countless of authentic efforts just to win her trust and friendship again, and that was more than enough fix the holes in his heart. It would also do no good if he forced her to love him back, as her heart clearly belonged to someone else. What good would it do if he let his selfishness took over again, like how he was blinded with his emotions he couldn't think rationally?

Apollo flicked the curtains open, smiling at the view of the sunset on the side.

Somehow, he thought that it was better this way. Just being friends with Athena. There had to be a reason why he wasn't the right man to nurture her with love, a reason why she loved Simon more than him, a reason why they weren't meant to be. Time would answer him soon, and he would face it with a brave face. In the end, he was going to be alright.
