As many of our nights ended together, It was dark and past midnight. She had fallen asleep next to me after hours of whispered conversation. Her blonde hair fell gently across her face and her chest rose and fell slowly giving me the oppurtunity to sneak from the bed. I was leaving her room, keeping a promise to her mom to sleep on the couch.
I had every intention of leaving, until I felt her hand on my elbow. I reacted quickly, spinning back around a swearing under my breath. She had frightened me.
"Are you angry?" Her voice was concerned and my eyes scrambled to adjust to the pitch black room.
"No."
"Why are you leaving then?"
"I promised your mom I would sleep on the couch." I said my words slowly, hoping she would understand. Her eyes narrowed instantly.
"That's stupid, we both fit in here. Just stay." I felt her fingers brush my arm and I hoped my widened eyes were hidden by the dark. Her hand stayed tight on my forearm.
"Glen will be pissed, no unfair privileges and the wrath of Paula is not something I want first thing in the morning." My voice stayed steady as I tried to ignore the warmth and tingling in my arm that was quickly spreading throughout my body. Her hand tightened and she swayed toward me.
"I want you to stay."
Now I was burning. I pulled away, broke the contact. I needed to escape. I fumbled with my glasses from my pocket and slid them onto my face. The room was finally in focus but then so was she. I quickly went to take them off but her hand blocked my attempt.
"Here, let me," She pulled them off my face with two hands and her eyes began studying my face. Her eyes ran from my eyes to my nose, along my cheek and then stopped on my lips. "I like being able to see your eyes."
We stood there in silence studying each other, my arms wrapped around myself. I felt a burning in my chest, and realized I was holding my breath. I drew in deeply only to have it cut short by her smile. That was all it took, a smile, and I knew I was done for. She must have sensed my weakening defense because she begain pulling back towards the bed. I planted my feet, my decision made. Her eyes burned with frusteration and her mouth set into a thin line.
"Ashley Davies if you do not—"
"Can I kiss you?"
In the dark I barely saw her head nod. Her eyes never straying and her face remained unreadable.
"Are you sure?"
She nodded again and I stepped closer. My hands were steady as I held her face gently. Her eyes closed. She was waiting. I leaned closer, her arms and my glasses stuck between us. I was too nervous to close my eyes. Once my lips met hers she instantly was kissing me back. No hesitation.
