Disclaimer: I'd be frightened to meet Moriyama-sensi after all the crap I've put his characters through. . . ((clears throat))
Author's Note One: I originally posted this on AFF a long time ago… not sure why I never posted it here. In any case, it's here now—re-edited and revamped— for your enjoyment! XD
Author's Note Two: Looking through a birthday astrology book recently, I found that my friends Zena and Nina (they're twins) are represented by the tarot card "The Lovers." I told them this and they laughed and said that waaaaay back when, people believed that twins (when born as a boy and a girl) were lovers in past lives.
...and being the sick, twisted authoress that I am, I couldn't help but play with the idea. MWAHAHAHA!
Warnings: Incest. ChronoxRosette goodness. (Though I suppose I could have made this RosettexJoshua. . . but that's just gross. XP ((Is a blatant hypocrite)))
Dedication: For my friend Lessa, who's just twisted enough to enjoy this, and, of course, Zena and Nina, my inspiration. XD

"You know what I learnt in school today?"
Her warm words wash over me like a gentle wave; the soft press of her fingertips on my skin feels like a moonlight kiss. A similar glow wraps our naked bodies in a silvery-blue blanket— the only light in our locked room.
The room we've shared since we were three.
"No..." I whisper in response, briefly forgetting that we are safe tonight. They're out; we're alone. Blissfully, thankfully alone. But we're so used to the blessing of silence, to hiding from mother and father... it's hard to get used to this freedom. I shift closer, tightening my hold on her lithe body. She giggles.
"I learnt," she murmurs, dark blue eyes sparking with excitement— a beautiful, overpowering excitement. God, I love her, "that people in the past thought twins like us were really passionate lovers reincarnated."
"Oh?" I chuckle as she rolls on top of me. The bed squeaks.
The bed we've shared since we were ten.
"Yep," she confirms, running her fingers through my unbound violet locks, nose pressed teasingly to my own. "Something about their love being so pure, so powerful, that they really came from one soul, one egg... and are reborn that way."
I brush my lips across her cheek, sweeping a loop of golden hair behind her ear. "It's a nice thought," I agree tenderly, our feet intertwined beneath the thin white sheet, "but why would lovers want that to happen? If they're brother and sister... technically, they're not supposed to love one another like that anymore."
She shrugs, indifferent. "We do."
"We're weird."
Laughter. Sweet, tinkling laughter... I adore the sound as much as I adore her. I wish I could just listen to it all day, be with her always…
"Maybe," she concedes, grinning widely— no shame or sorrow in those endless sapphire pools. "But we're happy. Aren't we?"
A flicker of fear mars her perfect face. My heart beats faster, only for her.
"Yes..." I breathe, lifting my chin just enough to taste her lips. Sweet and dark, like the richest honey. "Very happy."
"Well, see, then?" she cheers, confidence returning as she gives my ear a playful nip. I can't help but squeak quietly in response, wriggling beneath her. "We're happy. We're together. We're in love."
The words pull my mouth into a slight frown; I tighten my hold on her hand. "The world won't like it, Rosette. Mom and Dad won't like it."
Mom and Dad won't like it at all... Our faces pale simultaneously.
But in the end, as always, Rosette doesn't give a damn. "Forget about them," she advises, fervently grinding our hips together. A soft groan oozes from between my clenched teeth. "Forget about everyone. This is between you and me, little brother. You and me. Besides..."
A smirk tugs on her full pink lips. "I like a challenge."
