"Condoms." Charlie states. He looks up at Glenn, the sight of the box in the kid's hand hitting him like a suckerpunch to the stomach. "What the hell are those for?"
Glenn's heart is thundering in his chest as he turns to face Charlie, his face beat red. "They aren't for me," He swallows hard. "They're just in case -"
Charlie interrupts him mid-sentence, his tone accusing and bitter. "Just in case you get with that Maggie chick, right?" He scoffs. "Yeah, I see the way you look at her, I'm not stupid." He takes a step closer to Glenn.
The kid puts the box down on one of the shelves, retreating back a few steps.
"Charlie -"
"Did you forget I was even here?" He growls. "Don't mind me, excuse Charlie for thinking somebody actually cared." He fumes, stepping even closer to Glenn.
Silence lingers in the air of the pharmacy. Glenn can't even bring himself to look at the man practically hovering over him, though he wishes he could. He doesn't know how to explain what he's feeling; how to put it into words. Perhaps that's because he's never felt the way he does in this moment.
After a few seconds of watching Glenn, waiting for him to bite back at him, Charlie sighs and drops his head too, looking down at the ground. When his heart to stops beating quite so fast and his breathing evens out, he speaks.
"There somethin' wrong with me?" He whispers.
At that, Glenn's head snaps up. He reaches out to take Charlie by his shoulders and force him to look into his eyes. "How can you say something like that?" He asks softly, shaking his head. "Nothing is wrong with you, okay?"
Charlie's hands move upward to grip Glenn's forearms. He's about to push them off of him in anger - no; in pain, maybe even betrayal - but he sees the sincerity in Glenn's eyes.
He means what he said.
Nothing is wrong with you.
He searches Glenn's face, his eyes flicking down to his lips once or twice. He isn't sure of what he's feeling, or what he's doing, but nevertheless, he leans forward, and presses his lips to Glenn's without even considering it.
The hands on Charlie's shoulders slide up to cup his neck as Glenn kisses the bloke back. The whole thing doesn't last longer than a few seconds, but it says quite enough to both of them.
Charlie's the first one to pull away. He blinks his eyes and steps back, clearing his throat. "We should, uh -" Get it together. " We should head back. They'll be looking for us."
Glenn nods and Charlie heads for the door, pushing it open with one hand as he steps out onto the sidewalk.
They walk back to the horses, Glenn behind Charlie, Charlie in front of Glenn. Knowing the other wouldn't see it, each of them allow a small smile to fall over their lips. Maybe it had been a spur of the moment kind of thing, and the kiss meant nothing.
Or maybe, just maybe, this had been a long time coming.
